Cristian-Mijares4After losing 3 fights in a row last September 12th at the hands of Nehomar Cermeno, the former super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares contemplated retirement.  Now after careful consideration, he has decided against and he has stated that he will continue in the sport that he loves.

“I think that I got ahead of myself announcing my retirement immediately after my September 12th defeat in Monterrey,” Mijares stated frankly.  “I think it was frustration and my pain that I felt when I heard the judge’s decision that made me think about retirement.

“I still do not have a set plan for my future but there is enough time for that,” he added.  “I need to rest and to come to terms with my loss but I know that I have plenty more to offer the boxing world, I am still to young to retire so I will be back stronger than ever.”

“Nothing has been spoken about but I would not be a against a possible rematch with Jore ‘Travieso’ Arce, I only mention it as a possibility but I ask, why not?” Mijares concluded.
