After losing a lopsided unanimous decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. this past Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV, JUan Manuel Marquez looks towards the future.
Although all indications point towards Mayweather facing the current pound for pound fighter in the world Manny Pacquiao some time next, only as the Filipino defeats the tough Puerto Rican champion Miguel Cotto this coming November 14th, it looks like Marquez might match skills against Ricky Hatton early in 2010, a man that both Pacquiao and Mayweather have defeated, the latter in December of ’07.
“I will return to lightweight but why not try at super lightweight against Hatton?” Marquez stated at the post fight press conference.
“We tried to beat Mayweather but we couldn’t do it. We are going to rest and talk to my promoter and my team and we will make the right decision,” he concluded.
