Morales, who is scheduled to defend his world title against unbeaten Danny Garcia on January 28, was rushed to the hospital near Mexico City this morning after having abdominal pains.
Erik Morales will have emergency surgery and was diagnosed with bladder stones. Bladder stones are usually small masses of minerals that form in your bladder. Bladder stones develop when urine in your bladder becomes concentrated, causing minerals in your urine to crystallize. Concentrated, stagnant urine is often the result of not being able to completely empty your bladder.
Bladder stones don’t always cause signs or symptoms. Some small bladder stones sometimes pass on their own. Though is not life threatening, it can cause infections and other complications.
At this time, a close source to the camp stated his fight which will be aired by HBO is in jeopardy since the doctor urged Morales to take at least 2 weeks of complete rest after the surgery.

I’ve personally had both bladder and kidney stones, once putting me the hospital, and let me tell you all, that is one painful ordeal ! A couple of the nurses told me the pain is equivalent to, or even worse, than childbirth ! Eric Morales is one of the toughest guys ever to lace on gloves , he’ll be happy to get back into the ring after this latest ordeal. Get well Champ .

A bit bummed because the fight will most likely be postponed, but glad it was nothing too serious and that Morales will be fine. God bless him and may he have a speedy recovery
