The After Math, Bradley-Alexander

My prediction was off. Alexander employed the game plan I expected, but was not nearly as effective as I thought he would be. It was an ugly, relatively even fight. No one can argue the scorecards (even though I thought the margins were a bit far).

We were hoping for a definite top 140 champion. Technically, that is Timothy Bradley. What that fight did, was level the playing field in the 140 division. Alexander and Bradley, who seemed to be each other’s only competitive opponent, looked mediocre and vulnerable to other 140’s such as Amir Khan, Marcos Maidana, Lucas Matthyse, and Zab Judah.

Bradley looked sloppy, but his pressure must have impressed the judges. Alexander fought how he always fights, backing up. He backs up, punches, pivots and moves. He did not throw the right combinations, nor land the punches he needed to. Neither man looked spectacular, which is unfortunate considering they were the two hottest fighters in one of the hottest divisions.

I want:

Alexander-Judah: two slick southpaws

Khan-Matthyse: another chance for Khan to show off his chin and skills against another hard hitting fighter.

Bradley-Maidana: let him fight someone who will appreciate the pressure and push right back

Bradley and Gary Shaw want Floyd Mayweather. This is a step up in competition and weight. I’d be interested in a showdown with Andre Berto at 147. I think that is a better fight than Berto fighting Victor Ortiz.

This is the thought to an okay fight that did not live up to the hype.

  1. It was the worst fight I’ve seen in a long time, both fighters didn’t show much and I think both will have problems with Khan and Maidana.Alexander could have continued but he thought he was ahead and wanted a way out.At least Bradley v Khan will be a lot more exciting and the winner can say they are the best at 140.

  2. Never really liked Bradley since the Campbell fight, his head is too big for his sloppy style and he gets too wild with his punches I can see someone like Khan leveling him he gets wild, Alexander is too basic and he’s a quitter he wont go far he backs up too much.
