Now that he is a three time world champion, Humberto “Zorrita” Soto of Los Mochis, MX, only thinks of becoming what no other Mexican fighter has achieved: a four time world champion in as many divisions.

Soto, who trains out of Tijuana, MX, under the watchful eye of Bobby Quirarte, stated that he plans on defending his newly captured WBC lightweight title a couple of times and then go after the jr. welterweight division.

“I want to go after the fourth title, I have the height and the strength to achieve it,” Soto stated. “I think the best fighters are in the jr. lightweight division, I just need to strenghten my body.”

On March 13th, Soto captured his third title when he defeated David Diaz via a unananimous decision in the semi main event of Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, TX.

“A lot of people were expecting a war but fights are won with intelligence and that is what we did, we walked out the winner,” Soto said about his last fight.

Although at the time Soto does not have a confirmed date for his next bout, it is rumored that he might face Ricardo Dominguez of Mexico in a voluntary defense of his title before going after his mandatory challenger, Anthony Peterson in July.

“I would like to fight in Tijuana or in Los Mochis but I will go anywhere where my promoter wants me,” Soto concluded.
