We’re 23 days away from Manny Pacquiao’s pay-per-view fight with Tim Bradley and to be honest, I haven’t heard that many boxing fans being excited. I think there’s more buzz about Pacquiao being against gay marriage than his upcoming fight.
It’s been almost two weeks since Floyd Mayweather’s unanimous decision over Miguel Cotto and people are still talking about that fight. On Friday HBO released the PPV numbers and in case you missed them, they are crazy: 1.5 million pay per view buys and $94 million in revenue generating $12,000,150 from 14,612 tickets sold making it the second highest grossing non-heavyweight pay-per-view event in boxing history.
And do you know who holds the number one spot? You guessed it…Mayweather. Mayweather’s record breaking 2007 showdown with Oscar De La Hoya. His fight generated all-time records for any weight class with 2.46 million buys and $137 million in pay-per-view revenue.
And by the way… do you know who holds the third spot? That’s right…. Mayweather’s 2010 victory against Shane Mosley which did 1.4 million buys and $78 million in revenue.
Do you guys think Mayweather was right to decline a 50-50 split with Manny Pacquiao?
Don’t get me wrong, Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighters of today’s eras but do you think his fight with Bradley on June 9 will be able to compete with Mayweather’s record breaking numbers?
Pacquiao vs Bradley will be another Joshua Clottey fight.

Also, Cotto fought Pacquiao too and he dint make those numbers… is clearly Floyd.
Only reason floyd is making those numbers is because oscar helped him oscar was the one maki.g everyone money. W

Mayweather vs Pacquiao will not happen!
Pacquiao already considering to accept the lesser purse, just to make the fight happen. Floyd is already blaming Bob. Floyd is going to jail for a moment. I wonder what’s he new strategy to make an excuse, not to make the fight happen when he finished his term in jail.
Firstly, an allegation about drugs, then pricing himself $100million, then not agreeing 50/50, and then blaming Bob.

I think it should be 50/50 Mayweather doesn’t sell that much PPV. His last fight I ordered it only because he had Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez on the under card and a lot of other Mexican’s ordered it for the same reason. Same thing on Mayweather vs. Mosley they had Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez on the under card.
it’s appropriete the 45-45 slpit ang the other 10% the winner take all… and if the fight come out good and who ever win might take more advance on the purse during the rematch….

I think Manny should fight for a guarantee $40 million and accept 60/40 or 70/30 like Cotto did. If the numbers are like Mayweather Cotto that would mean around $70 million for Pacman. If the PPV numbers are higher, even better! He can’t make $80 million in one night with any other boxer and does not have many more fights under his sleeve to wait any longer. Milk the fans that want to see this happen and just accept a less favorable deal you are use to.
I haven’t spoken much on the purse subject, but Mayweather’s numbers do speak for themselves. He’s the biggest draw in Boxing, Pacquiao isnt, so maybe 60-40 split in Mayweather’s favor is appropriate. I don’t care who gets more or whatever because the fact is this fight may never happen and now it just doesn’t hold the intrigue it did 2-3 years ago. Get it done this year or early next year otherwise we all might as well stop talking about it.
45-45 split, winner gets the other 10%? I think Honest Bob Arum suggested that. As much as i can’t stand Arum, it is an interesting idea.
