As predicted, Mike Alvarado and Mauricio Herrera stole the show Saturday night with their all action packed fight. Alvarado-Herrera was part of the under card for Brandon Rios vs Richard Abril.
Mike Alvarado (33-0, 23 KOs) was the bigger man and landed the more effective power punches but Mauricio (18-2,7KOs) didn’t give up easily and continued to fire away with scintillating combinations. With his left eye closed by the late rounds Herrera, continued firing back as Alvarado unleashed a barrage of punches. At the end, Herrera’s power wasn’t enough to slow the heavy hitter.
Despite losing, Herrara left the ring to a huge ovation and I am sure it won’t be the last time we see Herrera in a war again.
After the fight Mike Alvarado from Colorado said he wants Juan Manuel Marquez.
“I want Marquez, I deserve Marquez and I’m ready for it,” he said.
That’s a fight I’m willing to pay for.
Time for a title shot for Mile High Mike Alvarado! That was a great fight.
This was quite the fight both these guys impressed on an otherwise uneventful card.
