As the debates continue as to who won between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, it never fails to have critics point out what Pacquiao opponents do wrong but don’t ask them why Pacquiao refuses to take the Olympic style drug test because they get confrontational.

There are speculations going around the net about Marquez cheating against Pacquiao Saturday night in their trilogy bout. The controversy starts with Marquez’s new conditioning coach.

Victor Conte, a former BALCO employee, said that Juan Manuel Marquez is working with a steroid dealer and former “rat” named Angel “Memo” Heredia. Heredia is a steroid dealer and has testified he supplied PEDs to many athletes.

Angel Heredia was the star witness for Novitzky and the government against many athletes. Angel Guillermo Heredia is identified as Source A in the felony indictment. He agreed to be a cooperating witness three years ago when according to court filings investigators confronted him with evidence of his drug trafficking and money laundering. Since then Mr. Heredia said he has provided prosecutors with documentation and with the names of many elite track athletes and Olympic medal winners.

Heredia snitched all his clients he supplied with to avoid jail time.

Marquez needed to gain some extra pounds for his November 12th show down with Pacquiao and hiring a previous steroid dealer was already a controversy by it self.

During the fight, you see an orange looking drink given to Marquez by Heredia. Per section 28 of the boxing WBO boxing regulations only plain water may be given to a contestant in the course of the bout. The above photo is undeniable proof that something that was not water was given to Marquez.

It could be Marquez urine, as he is known for drinking his own pee. It could be pedialyte which is a therapeutic hydration and helps for dehydration by replenishing vital minerals and nutrients. Whatever it is, the use of illegal or performance enhancing drugs or other stimulants is sufficient cause for disqualification.

If that doesn’t make you wonder maybe you will also like to know that Marquez stepped on Pacquiao feet 17 times.

At this point, it’s all speculation. It could be that it was a colored light reflecting through that water bottle since it was during rounds it could also mean that Marquez is horrible dancer or maybe Marquez was trying to level the playing field against Pacquiao…JK

What ever it was it sure makes you wonder. What’s your take on this? Did Juan Manuel Marquez Cheat?

  3. edgar you are a ass hole man. tas bien pendejo primero criticas a un boxeador de que si que chingados esta tomando y ahora ya quieres arreglar el pedo diciendo que es pedialite eres un culero deverias tomar mas enserio tus reportajes y tener la informacion necesaria anter de publicar una pendejada, se nota que tu tambien le chupas el pito a paquiao huey, por mi tu y tu pagina se van mucho ala verga

  4. What do you guys think about Marquez stepping on Pacquiao’s foot 17 times or more, did it affect his performance? I’ve seen the video of Pacquiao stepping on Marquez but if you can’t really compare the 2. Most of the time Pacquiao would step and punch at the same time while Marquez would step then punch. There was also an instance where Marquez was kinda looking down before stepping but I think this is the most that he has ever stepped on Pacquiao’s foot. But going to to my main question… did it affect the fight? Was Marquez able to land some of those big hits because Manny could not move away?

  5. There will always be controversy in close boxing matches. I recall Roach freaking out when Margarito took splenda or something in his coffee prior to his fight vs. Pacquiao. Here is another similar situation. The foot stepping thing is kinda gay on Marquez part but hell he probably didn’t even know he was doing it. As much as I would love to see these two fight again I believe Marquez will probably restrict himself to fighting a few more dinks on Mexican turf from now on before retiring or fading out like Barrera has lately. Pac I believe took a tremendous hit with regards to his future. His legacy will no doubt go down in history as being one of the greats but like Khan said he should consider retirement. Perhaps a fight or two more just for the fans would be a fitting end to a great career. Plus it will make his mommy happy…

  6. Lets not tarnish boxing any more by wild accuasions like that. The judges voted.Thats why we have judges. No clear winner (KO) then the judges have the say so. now wehave punch counts ,effective punches, and bullshit fans that cant accept the results. If the media isnt satified their spin will sway the people who diddnt even see the fight to object the final decision. Lets get back to the sport of boxing. only one winner and one losser. Not ” what-iffs or could-have-beens.)

  7. @ jomer, come on guy. Are you aware how ignorant you make yourself look? This is a website for Boxing Fans not dumbasses who spread dumb crap like “all Mexican fighters cheat with no evidence at all. Marquez is a warrior and a great champion and I’ll agree that Pacquiao is a warrior and a great champ as well. Carry yourself like a fan if you even are one then again probably all you know about Boxing concerns Pacquiao. It kills you that Marquez made him look ordinary but accept it Marquez is just as great a fighter even moving up to Pacquiao’s domain.

  8. Update:

It has been confirmed by the Nevada State Athletic Commissioner, Keith Kizer, that the mystery drink JMM was in fact pedialyte and it was approved.

“Marquez was using water and Pedialyte between rounds. They have to get the fluids approved prior to the bout and be in factory sealed containers at the arena for our inspectors,” Kizer told boxingscene.com

The corner can transfer the fluid between rounds, taking it from a factory container to another bottle, just as they are free to put water into a squeeze bottle after it is opened under the observance of an inspector.
