After destroying his last opponent, former title challenger Daniel Attah inside of two rounds back in July, WBC #1 ranked lightweight Antonio DeMarco (24-2-1, 18KOs) is more than willing and able to get back in the ring and prove why he deserves another shot at the title. With his next date set for November 6th on the under card of Juan Manuel Lopez vs. Rafael Marquez in Las Vegas, NV, the former interim WBC lightweight champ is hard at work in the gym waiting for the call when he will learn who his next rival will be.

“After my last bout, as usual I went back to Los Mochis and spent some time with my family,” DeMarco, who hails from the Mexican boxing hotbed but resides in Tijuana, said. “I have been training for about two months and I feel stronger and quicker than before.”

DeMarco, who in his win over Attah climbed back up to the top of the rankings, is waiting patiently for his gym mate WBC lightweight belt holder Humberto “Zorrita” Soto to defend his title against Urbano Antillon on December 4th. Once that defense is out of the way, the rumor is that Soto will vacate the title and move up to jr. welterweight, leaving DeMarco with a straight shot at the title.

“My goal right now is to get another shot at the title,” the affable DeMarco stated after a hard sparring session with WBO Youth lightweight champion Mercito Gesta. “I got to challenge once already but the night did not turn out in my favor and I am anxious to redeem myself in the eyes of my family, my team, my fans and the rest of the boxing world.”
