Khan-Peterson on December 10th!

With wins over Paul McCloskey and Zab Judah already this year, Bolton, England’s Amir “King” Khan (26-1, 18KOs), the current unified jr. welterweight WBA and IBF champion is looking forward in closing out the year strong when on Saturday, December 10th, he faces hometown favorite Lamont “Havoc” Peterson (29-1-1, 15KOs) in Washington D.C. in a twelve round title fight. Peterson is the IBF mandatory challenger. The bout will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and broadcast live by HBO Championship Boxing. In the semi-main event, undefeated heavyweight Seth Mitchell (23-0-1, 17KOs) of Brandywine, Maryland, versus the always dangerous TBA.

“I am ready to come back to the United States and face a worthy opponent like Lamont Peterson,” Khan stated. “I always said I wanted to be active and be a true world champion and I will prove it once again on December 10th. I know that Lamont is a strong opponent and I am worried in facing him in his backyard. I will arrive as champion and I will leave as champion.”

Peterson mentioned that he was happy for the opportunity to challenge for a world title once again, “I am sure that Khan will prepare himself well to be able to defend his titles and I will prepare myself even better to be able to take those titles. Being able to capture a world title in my hometown will be a dream come true.”
