yoriboyIn a battle of former world champions fought at junior middleweight poundage, Yori Boy Campas (92-14-1, 74 KOs) and Hector “Macho Man” Camacho (79-5-3, 38 KOs) fought to an eight round draw on Saturday night at the Universal Center in Orlando, Florida.

With lack of fire works from both fighters the 46 year old veteran from Puerto Rico couldn’t stop holding throughout the scheduled eight rounds.  The heavy-handed Campas stalked the hitting and grabbing Camacho throughout the fight but neither ever gained the upper hand. Scores were 77-75 Campas, 78-74 Camacho and 76-76.

“I am pleased with the decision we have no losers. This is one fight out of three,” stated Camacho after the fight. “We have big plans by the end of the year. At 46 I am still the man, its Macho time!”

“We felt we won, it was more like a wrestling fight. I think because we’re in his town they gave us a draw,” Campas stated. “Camacho is a smart guy when he’s in trouble, he knows how to hold on. I have fought for 15 years and no one has hugged me as much as him not even my wife. He needs to understand he’s not the same Camacho he was before but oh well.”

The pay-per-view bout was shifted to Florida earlier this week after New Jersey boxing authorities refused to allow Camacho to fight.
