It was recently announce that Bob Arum and Freddie Roach will be flying to the Philippines for Manny Pacquiao’s birthday party on December 17, but most importantly they will be discussing Pacquiao’s next opponent.
Arum said that with Floyd Mayweather Jr. out of the picture due to his legal problems, Pacquiao’s next fight will take place April 16, likely at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, against one of three opponents: Shane Mosley, welterweight titlist Andre Berto or lightweight champ Juan Manuel Marquez. Arum said the contract weight will be 147 pounds.
“I will have all three proposals and I will sit with Manny in the Philippines when I’m there for his birthday and let him decide who he wants to fight,” Arum told ESPN.com. “We’ll go over everything because each fight has a different set of financial parameters. It’s Manny’s career, it’s his life and he’ll decide. Will I make a recommendation? Sure, but all it will be is a recommendation, and Freddie will have some input. I certainly don’t act as a dictator.”

manny has become the delahoya of this time. manny picks fighters that have been ko’d, over the hill or simply are to slow and fight to sloppy. everyone knows how hard it is for A fighter to come back after a hard lost (beat down) or a ko. being bigger really doesnt matter when u have to do all the work as to loose all the weight while the quicker fighter doesnt do shit but just sits and watch himself sing on tv. margo was to dam bloated slow and sloppy fighting manny. them wide shots were killing margo. took him a year to swing one dam punch. berto is a joke. this guy has fought bumbs but he deserves to fight manny? only big name he has was quintana and all berto do was bitch to the reff the whole fight. sorry berto is not good enough YET.. i want martinez and manny at 150 or 152. both fighters will be conftable because manny will be the bitch and stay at 144 and martinez will be at a conftable weight… ohhh yea thats why manny wont fight him. he knows martinez is to fast at that weight. maybe he will talk him down to 147 lmaooo bitch… manny needs to go down to 140 and stay there. no more cherry picking and start fighting some good fighters your age and your weight. you wanna fight at 154 well come in weighing 154. well that is the way of boxing. so much about getting fined for going over the weight why not get finned for not making weight?

I think anyone of those fights would be good for different reasons. Manny vs shane isnt a bad fight, but its not the fight everyone wants to see. The good thing about it is that we havent seen it before unlike Paquiao vs Marquez. Pacman vs Berto is also a good fight. It would be nice to see Manny fight someone that is young, fast, and strong. Plus it’s about time Berto got tested. Marquez vs Pacquiao you know will be a great fight. I think Marquez is disprit for this fight for two reasons. 1.He wants that big payday before he gets out of boxing for good, and 2. He wants to avenge the fight he lost to manny. I believe everyone(me included) wants to see this fight for one reason, So we can all see a clear and clean cut win from one of these guys. No draw and No split decisions. It will suck if they fight again and we get the same outcome as one of the first two fights.
One thing I dont understand is all this talk about manny cherry picking his fights. I think thats nonsence, Manny has fought everyone they have put in front of him. I dont agree with him being allowed to fight for a 154lb title if he cant make the weight. That wouldnt be allowed back in the day. Manny has proved that he faces a challange head on by fighting guys that are bigger than him like delahoya(even if he was old)lol, Cotto, Clottey, and Margarito. If you all dont complain when that assclown mayweather picks and chooses every fight of his career then dont complain if manny chooses one here and there, which i dont believe is the case anyway. Also, I think you’re smart enough to know Berto has a huge chance of kicking your ass. Maybe even a bigger chance than Marquez. Berto is a bigger man, but he’s not a slow chump like Hatton, de la hoya, clottey, Margo… so he may very well put you to sleep. Don’t fight him. It’s not worth it. The reward/risk ratio doesn’t make much sense now. Maybe we can make this fight
later.
Manny, I think you HAVE to fight Marquez. I know you may not want to, but, you’ve beat him before, and you can certainly do it again. It MAY not end up being target practice like your last few fights, but the fans DESERVE a competitive fight.
And Manny, we can’t ask Marquez to fight you at 147. I know it will give you the edge… but if you force Marquez to fight you anywhere over 140, then people are going to suspect you’re a bit scared. You know what, let’s show the people you are scared of no one… and lets fight Marquez at 135. Win or lose, you’ll make a ton of money and hardcore boxing fans will be hella happy…

I think that could be fight of the year candidate.
He will probably fight and destroy Mosley at 147 and even if he fought Marquez at 140, it would hardly be the same kind of fight that they had before.

Mosley is way past his prime and after his lackluster performance against Mora nobody wants to see Mosley against Pacquiao. Marquez can’t fight a 147 lbs. he’s a natural lightweight so he out of the picture. Andre Berto could be a good fight. Berto’s young, strong, fast and he packs a punch. I hope he picks Berto.
