It took a vicious left to send shock waves in the boxing world. In the second round of his highly anticipated rematch with Paul Williams, Martinez blasted his foe with a rigorous left that sent Williams crumbling face first to the canvas making Martinez the newest must-see super star. It seems everyone wants a shot at the Argentinean even Winky Wright, who has not fought since April 2009, has reach out to the Martinez camp in hopes to get a fight.

“My life changed professionally but not personally [since the Williams

knockout],” Martinez said. “I continue to be the same guy.”

Two questions remain for Martinez: Who will he fight next? And When?

Martinez promoter, DiBella, hopes to make a deal with HBO for Martinez’s next fight to be in March 19, possibly in New York or Atlantic City, N.J. against Ireland’s Andy Lee. I would rather see Martinez against a bigger name, maybe Miguel Cotto at 154, pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr. Another possible opponent will be Antonio Margarito. There’s a built-in story to a fight with Martinez because Margarito handed him his first career defeat by seventh-round TKO in 2000.

Martinez took $1.05 million when he faced Williams and is expected to make a lot more. Who would you like Martinez to fight next?

  2. @jesus thats what im talking about. why not ynify the dam division instead of picking someone not worthy of a title.

  3. Here’s a crazy idea…how about a fight vs Felix Sturm ? I would like to see a unified middleweight champion.

  4. paquiao is way to small and will get killed, margarito is now too slow and mayweather is scared to lose…. so that doesnt leave any good fights for martinez…. maybe someone like bute at a catch weight 164?
