Williams-Cintron 2, heck no!

I was very disappointed with the outcome between Paul Williams and Kermit Cintron which took place at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., on Saturday night. These are two fighters who don’t fight constantly or get high paying checks and for that reason you expect them to go all out and build a fan base.

You could argue all you want but at the end if you don’t have a huge fan base you will continue to fight at the small venues. Everyone says Paul Williams is the most feared boxer because no one wants to fight him that’s bull shit, not true he doesn’t sell, period.

Is not that other fighters are afraid of him, he just doesn’t sell. You think Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquioa will give Williams a shot? I highly doubt it, what does he have to offer? By the way Paul Williams did call both Mayweather and Pacquioa out after the fight.

Take Chris Arreola for example, he doesn’t have any foot work or any special boxing skills other than power to knock you out but he has a huge fan base and because of his aggressive style people will pay to see him fight.

Williams is just too nice, don’t get me wrong, Paul Williams is an awesome guy and I know he has the potential of being a fan favorite but during the fight Williams was cautious in the first few rounds, probably because Cintron was fighting well but appeared to pick up the paste until both got tangled and Williams went down and Cintron went out -– through the ropes. Besides the fiasco, I know 3 and half rounds is not enough to judge a fight but is not the first time Williams starts out slow. You know it was a boring fight when your own promoter is refusing to give Cintron a rematch.

When talk of a rematch was brought up Dan Goossen, Williams’ promoter, felt that “there was nothing compelling in the Williams-Cintron fight to see a rematch,” as he stated at the post fight.

Williams was awarded a split technical decision but really nothing was accomplished. For Kermit Cintron, instead of pounding your gloves together as your being taking away in a stretcher try to get up next time or try to show some kind of sign that you’re ok to insure the ring doctor you’re able to fight instead of just laying there on the floor.

I can’t blame the overly cautious doctors when you’re not being responsive.

  1. lol jesus u said the chavez kids lol no ill stay with ur undercards. he got cought taking steroids while fighting bums thats the worst.

  2. @bori_4_life
I agree Juanma and Gamboa will make a great main event in itself.

I made up this card in my crazy mind because we’ve had really sucky undercards for the last few PPV fights. Then again you’re more than welcome to watch the Chavez kids in action

  3. jay wats up i agree i think he did hit his head but its a messed up way to loose even when ur winning. thanks love boxing lol i thought i was watching a diff. fight with the score cards they had. hey jesus nice cards but bob will never put juanma and gamboa in anybodys undercard that would be a main event. bob arum is gonna make money of that fight

  4. I don’t mind if they re-match, just don’t make it ther main event if you want to sell out the venue. We could put it as an undercard to Mayweather-Pacquiao. In fact I’m so crazy, here’s the complete fight card my crazy mind wants…

    Main Event:
    Mayweather vs Pacquiao

Undercards ( in any order you want )

    a) Marcos Maidana vs. Tim Bradley
    b) Williams vs Sergio Martinez (rematch)
    c) Juan Manuel Lopez vs Yourikis Gamboa
    d) add any 4 off air fights here.

  5. what, fellas
whats shakin boricua long time no talk. i think there should be a rematch no dought. if cintron wanted to fight they should have let him fight, the doc must have seen something we didnt. supposedly the doc saw him hit his head. he must of hit it pretty hard if the doc chose to end the fight right then and there. I think i had it 2 rds to1 for cintron, paul aint fooling anyone with those bullshit pitty pat punches.
hey love boxing i think your right paul might want to go up in waight. I remember one dumb ass kept asking me why wouldnt mosley take a fight with williams, as if to say that mosley was scared. Shane isnt scared hes smart. fighting a guy that tall would automaticly make you a one domentional fighter cuz you would be trying to get close to him the whole fight, and he could just beat you up from the outside. any fighter would be stupid to put himself in that position.

  6. @ Bori 4 life .I saw the fight and I had it just like you .Cintron won the first three rounds according to many boxing experts .

  7. am i wrong but i had cintron up on cards. i cant count round 4 because there wasnt much time to count in round four. i gave cintron rounds 1 and 3. i gave williams round 3. this was horrible of course there needs to be a rematch both fighters deserve that and even though they dont have a fan base there are boxing fans who would like to see this. whoever doesnt want to see the fight they dont have to watch plain and simple. well thats just me but i would like to see a rematch.

  8. @ laxone ,I really disagree .it’s not about them have the courage to fight Williams ,it’s about Williams going up to the division where he belongs to .he is 6.3 and fighting at welterweight division .what a joke.he is affraid to fight guys his height .no one will fight him because it’s obvious the guy a lot taller than welterweight fighters .Williams is an arrant coward who is scare to fight guys his height .

  9. Edgar, I agree with you that Cintron should have shown some kind of sign that he was ok if he wanted to continue.
No way do I want to see them fight again.

I agree that Williams isn’t a sell either but I think he would be too much for Mayweather and Pacquiao.

If they dont make the dream fight happen, one of them should man up and fight Paul Williams for the fans on HBO.
I bet you Paul Williams is willing to go to the Philippines and fight Pacquiao.
