Juan Manuel Marquez, WBO and WBA lightweight champion, has stated that he still might face the WBA jr. welterweight champion Amir Khan in May.

Marquez received the offer from his promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, but he has still not accepted. Rumors abound that Marquez wants the fight in the United States while Khan wants to fight in Manchester, England.

JUan Manuel is coming off from defeating Joel Casamayor and Juan Diaz and then tasting defeat as a welterweight against Floyd Mayweather in his last bout last year.

Khan is known for his defeat over Marco Antonio Barrera and by defeating Dimitry Salita in his last bout by KO.

Talks between the Marquez and Khan camps resumed presumably because the proposed Khan vs. Paul Malignaggi tilt has fallen apart since HBO does not want to pay the amount requested for that bout as well as the semi-main event of Victor Ortiz vs. Nate Campbell.

Although an official announcement has not been made, Golden Boy Promotions has confirmed that there is ongoing talks for the bout.
