Alfredo “Perro” Angulo (15-1, 12 KOs) and Gabriel Rosado (12-3, 7 KOs) stated prime condition today at a press conference held at Buffalo Bill’s Casino & Resort in Primm, Nev. On Friday, Angulo and Rosado will go ten in jr. middleweight headliner on a Gary Shaw Productions card televised on ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights” from Buffalo Bill’s.

Angulo_Gabriel-Rosado1“The ‘Dog’ is back and he is looking for a good fight,” said Angulo, who seeks to bounce back from his first pro loss.

Rosado, however, is looking to keep the dog down: “I trained very hard for this fight,” he said.

In the eight-round co-main, super middleweight Anthony Dirrell (17-0, 14 KOs) looks to stay unbeaten against Alfredo Contreras (10-5-1, 4 KOs).

“I am looking forward to being back in the ring after almost two years — I just cannot wait,” said Dirrell.

Also on the card: heavyweight Travis Kauffman (17-0, 14 KOs) vs. William Shahan (7-1, 6 KOs) in an eight-rounder; unbeaten lightweight Sharif Bogere (11-0, 6 KOs) vs. Rodolfo Armenta (7-1, 5 KOs) in a sixer; undefeated welter Said El Harrak (6-0, 2 KOs) vs. Jesus Vallejo (3-0, 3 KOs); super feather Archie Ray Marquez (5-0, 5 KOs) vs. Sergi Ganjelashvili (4-3-1), four rounds; feather Gary Russell Jr. (3-0, 1 KO); and female 130-pounder “DynOmite” Donatella Hultin (1-0) vs. Lucia Larcinese (1-4) in a four-rounder.

Group-1R.I.P. Vernon Forrest

Promoter Gary Shaw actually talked more about the tragic death of former WBC champion Vernon Forrest, who was tragically shot to death last week, than he did about Friday’s line-up. Shaw wants to get promoters together so subsidize a program called “Stop the Violence Outside the Ropes.”

Fighters lined up at today’s press conference wearing T-shirts paying tribute to the late Vernon Forrest. Pictured below, left to right: Angulo, Dirrell, Hultin, Bogere and Rosado.
