rafael-marquez-boxer2Rafael Marquez, the former bantamweight and super bantamweight champion, stated yesterday from the Romanza gym in Mexico City that he is aconfident that a fourth fight between him and Israel Vazquez is possible in November.

Marquez is in full fledged training for his next bout on the 23rd of this month in Monterey, MX, against Francisco Mendoza of Columbia on
the same card as Jhonny Gonzalez challenges for the WBC 122 lbs. title against Yoshiaki Nishioka of Japan.

“I hope to give a good fight in Monterey and look good for the fans. From there I want to go after a world title, I know very little of
Mendoza but we will get to know each other in the ring.”

Marquez said that in case the fourth fight against Vazquez is not possible, then the plans is to secure a bout against Juan Manuel Lopez,
the WB super bantamweight champion.

Marquez stated that in his recent visit to the United States, he spoke with Vazquez who mentioned that he would like to have a tune up fight
and then also ask for the fourth fight between the two Mexico City natives.

“I can fight in super bantamweight or featherweight and I would accept a title fight or a great fight in either weight,” Marquez stated.

  1. I don’t see this fight happening this year. Izzy needs a tune up and that is no tune up. Maybe 2010 but Izzy has to be medically cleared first.

  2. I forgot, maybe we will have a boxing card named: “It’s not over till it’s over” with: Marquez vs Vasquez 4 and Morales vs Barrera 4

I said it first! Now let’s make it happen!

  3. 4th fight would be awesome, but I fear for the safety of both fighters, They will go; they just get the better out of each other and those type of fights wear down fighters.

What if Marquez wins? we would have to see a 5th one!!
