The negotiations are well on their way for a bout between the interim WBA featherweight champion, the Cuban Yuriorkis Gamboa gand the super bantamweight WBA/IBF champion Celestino Caballero of Panama. Gamboa will be defending his title against Caballero.
Rogelio Espiño, the promoter of Caballero, stated recently that the bout is almost official.
“We have been analyzing the offer made to us and it looks very promising for Celestino’s career,” Espiño explained. “The companies Warriors and Showtime are about to finalize the negotations but we can’t announce it as official just yet.”
Espiño mentioned that a possible date might be in August in the United States. Gamboa has a perfect record of 15-0, 13KO while Caballero has a 32-2-2, 22KO ledger.
