Since his brutal 11th round TKO loss to challenger Antonio Margarito (37-5, 27 KOs), there’s been a lot of speculation about what former WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (32-1, 26 KOs) will do next to rebound from the loss. For most boxing fans, they would like nothing better than to see Cotto get right back in the ring and fight Margarito in a rematch. This would be the best scenario, because a rematch between the two of them would be a huge fight, a tremendous moneymaker for both fighters.
Rumor has it that Miguel Cotto will be fighting in December but an opponent hasn’t been announced. Rumor also has it that his revival opponent Antonio Margarito will be fighting in Nov 1 with Joshua Clottey at the Honda Center in Anaheim CA.
Michael Marley recently announced another rumor about Miguel Cotto. I guess close friends of the champ are being ignored, Cotto is not responding to old friends or wants to go anywhere, he wants to be alone. Apparently his loss to Margarito really got to him.
Cotto took a lot of punishment in the later part of the fight in particular to the head, and it’s uncertain that he would want to risk getting back in the ring with a heavy pressure fighter like Margarito so soon. It would definitely be a ballsy move on Cotto’s part if he were to do that, similar to the way that welterweight Paul Williams immediately called for a rematch with Carlos Quintana after losing his title to him months earlier. However, in Williams’ case, he didn’t take a savage beating like Cotto, and he fought more or less competitively throughout the fight, especially in the later rounds when he appeared to be coming on and starting to regain control of the fight. One thing is for sure, we defiantly want to see Miguel Cotto in the ring, who would you like Cotto to fight next?
cotto dont be a dumb ass. If margarito gets suspended thats not ur problem. I think u should be concern about fighting him again. I think u should redeem urself and fight him a good fight next time. Im a fan of urs cotto. I seriously know 4 fact u can beat him. u showed what u can do on most of the fight simply u got caught on the rope and got hurt. Talking about margarito he fought well at the begining of the fight, true he was getting mix at the begining, but he didnt get fustrated he kept coming forward and at the end of the fight he hurt cotto with a great punch and he got the win. He deserved the win. But he talked too much. he thought he was the shit after winning against cotto. And Margarito got his ass beat big time worse than he did to cotto. Margarito was losing from the begining to the end and got knock the fuc!j out. If margarito would of kept his mouth shut tendria mi respeto and im from PR too…
Tough guy…I hope Cotto will be back soon. He needs some tune up matches before facing Margarito again.
Again with the same BS, who ever says Cotto is not great boxer has crap in their head. But why Boricuas keep on saying the same crap?
Over and over and over again, Margarito is a no body? NO one wanted to fight with him, because of his power, he has one, if not the best chin in boxing right now, learn to take a loss.. maybe in the second fight he’ll do better, but no one is super human, if someone else takes a punch better than you and you don’t, we all know what is going to happen if the other one connects from any angle.

Margarito entertains, people like that and he is a good fighter, Cotoo is more skillful, but that doesn’t make Margarito a no one. He won the fight and he beat Cottto up, THAT IS REALITY.. Deal with it. Let’s see what happens if they fight again, I know it would be a great fight.
You know its funny how ppl like 2 assume he did his best. what cotto went thru was a mistakeable fight which HE did not take control of. he tought this no body would be a piece of cake. . yea margarito is strong but not smart at all. yea he pressures pl bu thats also how he got 5 losses. its not always smart 2 fight just with offense. its a tactical mounvers that have 2 b brought all from what u trained and bring it when fiht nites up. miguel made a mistake and didnt follow his plan .. which was attack da body. and everyone that has beaten margarito know s that cotto failed 2 do so.. every fight that a boxer goes thru is unpredictable.. if i had 2 really compare the skill level of these 2 fighters. cotto-speed,power-margarito, quickness-cotto,balance-cotto, tech.-cotto, counter puncher-cotto,smart-cotto,BUT THAT nite.. thats what cotto failed 2 do. he was thinkning when he was winning half da whole fight. all it takes 4 a vicctory is a good punch or 2 to damge someone. trust me i kno im a boxer as well. 14-0 and i dnt plan on losing and yea im from Moca,Puerto Rico. and hes my favorite boxer. and i kno if he really wanted his belt back he cud take it back. but i kno hes havin a rough time, Only because if he was gonna lose.. he shud of lost to a good fighter not a no body. I think to do a super fight margarito faces mosley on january and cotto faces berto for the wbc if cotto wins a rematch for june next year putting the tittles on the line for cotto it should not much of a problem taking the tittle from berto cotto is a lot more experienced and i dont think mosley have the fuel to go all the way 12 rounds with the kind of boxing style of margarito this guy ia a best he have a 454 SS engine , wen i toke a little trip to his gym to have a picture he does almost 20 rounds of sparing with several oponents i wass like this man is a best .. hope wee have our super fight..

I hope Cotto chooses Cintron for a comeback fight. If he thinks Margarito hits hard, wait until he feels Cintron’s power. Prediction…he’ll flash back to the later rounds of the Margarito fight and he’ll crumble!! Cintron will win this fight and I hope it takes place. Cotto’s day’s are numbered if he chooses to get in with Cintron. It’s one thing losing your first fight in the fashion he did but to get beaten up twice in a row…in that fashion…could be the end of a career. Bring it on…Cotto/Cintron…one I hope to see!

really i would love to c cotto fight margarito again only if he fights the way cotto fights i love miguel cotto wen he in the ring but that fight against margarito really disapointed me hes a warrior n he was fighting margarito going back n u cant beat margarito going back i think if cotto was to fight margarito the way he fights agressive n coming foward n lots of body punching like a beats that he is then we might c some diferent results am not saying he will knock margarito out but he hasa better chance of wining coming foward not going back n thats wat got him he got tired n margarito beat him in 1 round come back fight coming foward n cotto has a good chance that way
Cotto said he will be back for sure, I think he took the fight very well, he should rest for a bit and then come back vs a good opponent, he will do just fine against anyone else in the division, but I don’t think he wants a rematch with Margarito. Margarito him self has said he tried to talk about a rematch but there has been no response from Cotto or his camp.
I hope Cotto will bounce back from his loss from Margarito. Cotto is apparently taking the loss hard but every good champ looses. I think he should get back in the ring and fight as soon as possible!! He shouldn”t let this fight discourage him. I think Kermit Citron would be a fair opponent to fight first for his comeback!!

a rematch against margarito sounds great but im not so sure if coto is ready yet considering his TKO defeat against the tijuana tornado margarito. one thing is losing a match via unanimous decision or split but another thing is losing via TKO, its difficult to consider a rematch once youve ben tko. but i really hope to see Coto in the ring very soon.
