The WBO super flyweight champion Jorge “Travieso” Arce (53-6-1 ,40KO) will face the experienced Cecilio Santos (24-13-3, 14KO) in the main event on April 24th in Ciudad Obregon, MX in a twelve round championship bout that will be televised by Fox Sports Net in the United States and in Latin America. The fight card will be hosted by Top Rank and Zanfer Promotions.

The thirty year old Arce just captured his newly acquired belt when he defeated Angky Angkota of Thailand in Mexico City last January 30th. Previously, Arce has been crowned as the jr. flyweight champion by the WBO and the WBC, flyweight champion by the WBC and now super flyweight by the WBO.

“I am like the Yaquis, a warrior who gives himself in everything I do,” Arce of Los Mochis, MX, stated last week. “I am very excited to fight in front of the people of Ciudad Obregon once again. They are well versed in boxing and they are a great audience. Don’t doubt that there will be a great fight on April 24th.”

Arce added that if he defeats Santos, he will face Puerto Rican Eric Morel in June of this year in Texas at bantamweight in hopes of winning his fourth title in as many divisions.

“I want to make history as the first Mexican to win titles in four divisions but first I must defeat Santos in Ciudad Obregon,” Arce stated. “I am confident that the people of the city will support me.”

Santos, 31, of Mexico City is considered a tough opponent and has challenged Fernando Montiel for the WBO flyweight in July of 2007. In 2008 he challenged for the super flyweight IBF against Dimitri Kirilov in what was considered a great fight.

In the semi main event, featherweight Miguel “Barrelito” Beltran Jr. (22-0, 15KO) will face Ensenada’s Joksan Hernandez (17-2, 10KO) in a ten round war.

Seven more fight will flesh out the card.
