Floyd Mayweather has signed a multimillion pay-per-view deal with Showtime Networks Inc. and its parent company, CBS Corporation. The deal-a unique revenue-sharing arrangement between SHOWTIME PPV and Mayweather- is by far the biggest in the sport of boxing enabling him to fight up to six times over a period of 30 months with the first mega-event taking place on May 4, 2013, when Mayweather will fight Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero.

Earlier this month Floyd tweeted that he would face Devon Alexander in his next fight but that was just a publicity stunt. Now Guerrero (31-1-1, 18KOs), who currently holds the WBC interim welterweight title, will take on the full-fledged WBC champion Mayweather for the belt. Floyd plans on having his father in his corner after Roger Mayweather, his uncle and prior trainer, is battling the effects of diabetes in recent years.

Floyd Mayweather (43-0, 26 KOs), who turns 36 on Sunday, Feb. 24, has won world titles in five weight classes. He presently holds titles at welterweight and junior middleweight. In his last fight on May 5, he outpointed Miguel Cotto to claim a 154-pound title for the second time.

He beat Oscar De la Hoya at 154. He beat Ricky Hatton when he was undefeated and dangerous at 147. He demolished Juan Manuel Marquez after a 2 year lay off and when Marquez was ranked #2 in the pound for pound. He beat Shane Mosley after Mosley won an impressive TKO over Antonio Margarito. He manhandled Victor Ortiz after Ortiz won a thrilling unanimous decision over Andre Berto.

Now he takes on Guerrero who recently knocked down Andre Berto twice on his way to a unanimous decision victory in a welterweight bout. You can say Floyd is cocky and flashy but everyone he fights are coming off big wins. He doesn’t take on fighters who have recently lost or drained fighters, that is why his considered the #1 pound for pound fighter and PPV king.

Golden Boy Promotions, who has promoted all of Mayweather’s bouts since 2007 even though the company does not have a long-term deal with him and works with him on a fight-by-fight basis, is planning to put Mexican super star Saul Canelo Alvarez and Austin Trout as the co-main event. The fights will take place at the Las Vegas MGM grand.
