“Bam Bam’s” Fundraiser with Momentum 4 Life

The “Chatter Box” is spreading the word that there will be a pound for pound gathering of heavy hitters THIS Sunday at the Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios Meet and Greet 2013. This event is free and open to the public. It is a special fundraiser for the nonprofit Momentum 4 Life organization which assists kids and teens.

Rios is getting ready for his rematch with Mike Alvarado on March 30 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas but will take a brief break in training to meet the fans at this special charity gala.

RiosFlierThe two-hour fiesta will blast off this weekend at the South Gate gym owned by former WBC Super Bantamweight Champ Israel “Magnifico” Vazquez. Joining Brandon and Israel will be trainer Robert Garcia, champs Mikey Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, Israel Vazquez, Steven Luevano, actor Enrique Castillo, soccer star Bryan De La Fuente and many more. Glove legend Cleto Reyes will also have an exhibit and display at the gym.

If you are in the SoCal region, you don’t want to miss out on the festivities. There will be live music and entertainment, food, prize raffles and a fundraising auction.

It’s also a chance for all you fight fans to meet the boxers and take part in a KO day for the whole family. It’s a “win-win” for all; you can meet the champs–and help out a great cause too.

Junior welterweight champ Brandon Rios is a popular draw in the boxing world. He’s known for his “take no prisoners” aggressive stance in the ring and for his fun-loving personality outside the ropes. I first met him a few years ago at local press conferences and also Robert Garcia’s Boxing Academy in Oxnard. Rios is known for his smack talk but many of his fans may not realize he has also taken time to give back to many charitable organizations.

Now Team Rios’ efforts will pay off in this Sunday bash which is already promising to be a big hit with all the guests.

Many supporters and sponsors have donated collectibles to be raffles and auctioned off. The meet and greet will be both indoors and outdoors as there will also be vendors displaying boxing gear, equipment, souvenirs, artwork and more. Last October, Rios hosted a similar event at the KO Studio in Agoura Hills and since then, fans have been clamoring for more.

Nancy Rodriguez, in charge of Public Relations for Brandon Rios, speaks of the huge amount of unity the team has received.

“We’re so grateful for all the sponsors who have come together for this cause,” the PR dynamo tells me. “I’ve had people tell me they’re coming from San Diego, San Francisco, Arizona, Coachella and so many cities hours away and they’re coming to support Brandon Rios and Momentum 4 Life.”

The businesswoman and mother of four has worked tirelessly to organize this mega event. I asked her what she’s looking forward to most about this weekend?

“What I look forward to Sunday is to show the community–and not only the boxing community–but to show everyone we can come together in support of our youth,” Nancy says. “We have both Top Rank and Golden Boy fighters in the panel too. I really want to meet these awesome people who are taking time from their day to come support our event and most of all have fun!”

The prize raffle and auction will be packed with all sorts of treasures that will be up for grabs for the lucky winners.

The Rodriguez crew and the Rios family are overwhelmed with this show of support.

“I myself can tell you sometimes when I opened packages donated I almost cried. There are so many good people in this world still and I appreciate either their presence, donation, help, exposure through press, all support,” a humbled Nancy shares.

Now all the fans can also pitch in and support this worthwhile cause. Join Brandon Rios, Israel Vazquez, Team Garcia and all the other fighters and celebrity guests as they lend a glove to this youth charity.

Giving back is something you won’t regret. I fully believe that you get more out of life when you give back to others.

So I encourage all of you to come out to the Magnifico Boxing Gym for this championship day with the fighters!

My comadre Nancy Rodriguez also expresses her passion for giving back to others in planning this huge event with Team Rios.

“This is about coming together to support our fighters and support Momentum 4 Life,” she states. “Money raised through raffles will help start buying boxing gear for the M4L youth. I don’t think there was one person I approached who said NO to me, on the contrary they led me to more help.”

And for hardcore fight fans, it’s your chance to meet the slugger, himself, and to give him props before he heads into battle with the Mile High star, Denver’s Mike Alvarado.

“I’m positive Sunday you will get to meet these awesome people and I’m so grateful for each and every one of them,” the ebullient Rodriguez mentions. “Come Sunday, Brandon’s fans will get to see him before his rematch with Alvarado. They’re excited and I’m sure this will only give Brandon more momentum to train hard and win this fight for his fans!”
