Miguel Cotto, who in his last bout on June 5th captured the WBA 154 lbs. title, was operated recently on his right shoulder. Cotto stated that he will be ready to possibly face Manny Pacquiao for the second time on November 13th.
This is the second time that Cotto is operated on the same shoulder. The first was a couple of years ago when Cotto injured the same shoulder in car accident.
Cotto (35-2, 28KOS) is the first choice for Top Rank’s Bob Arum to face Manny Pacquiao. It was mentioned that Arum spoke with Cotto’s team last monday and with Margarito’s yesterday hoping to have a fight set in stone by the end of the week.
I have been a boxing fan since Salvador Sanchez beat Wilfredo Gomez. That introduced me to the boxing world and to the Mexican vs Puerto Rico rivalry. I’m 39 years old and I have seen a lot of great fights. Miguel Cotto changed the way I saw the rivalry and the pride that I had. I admired and think Miguel is a great fighter. I’m ashamed of what Margarito did and I hope Pacquiao beats him. I just want to say that Miguel Cotto, being a Puerto Rican, has opened my eyes and led me to become a better person. I think he is awesome and I now see the rivalry more as just a entertainment issue not personal. Miguel you are one of the greatest in my mind and I know that if Margarito wasn’t cheating, you would have won. As a true Mexican I can say Viva Puerto Rico.
I agree with Jay regarding Cotto. He is exciting to watch. Look out for his lethal left hook.
Cotto never had a problem before hopefully this wont create any new issues. Bori said right, Palante Junito there are more fights for you to win. If there are talks between cotto and mayweather, Thats cool. The odds will be against cotto big time, But I dont care I’ll watch cotto fight anyone win or lose. I would’nt put it past floyd to do this on the down low. He probably sees miguel as being easy pickins at this point in his career. But I would’nt sleep on cotto, He still might have some tricks up his sleeve. Cotto,s a real champion and I’ll watch him fight until the day he retires. When you think about it, it makes perfect sence for a volture like maweather. Avoid Pacman and fight the guy he beat. This way you dont look like a coward but your not taking on what looks to be the toughest fight.lol just like always.

I wish Cotto a speedy recovery. He is one of the most exciting power punchers of the last ten years. If the Pacquiao fight doesn’t happen, I wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch with Mosely. Sort of a crossroads fight for both…
