Mayweather and Cotto Face Off

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Miguel Cotto’s Faced Off with Max Kellerman to promote their May 5th PPV fight and just looking at this, now I know why people hate on Floyd Mayweather.

There are a lot of people who hate on certain celebrities for being successful, wealthy and/or better looking. The reasons why are endless but the main reason people hate on Floyd is because he is so cocky.

The way “Pretty Boy” behaves in front the cameras on the HBO 24/7 episodes or in this face off, he comes off as arrogant. While Max Kellerman is asking questions about his upcoming fight, Mayweather interrupts him to tell Cotto he has good taste as he is wearing a well branded watch.

Or the fact he interrupts Cotto while he is talking to call his entourage to bring him his iPad to check the score of a football game he betted $100,000 on. Some might find that disrespectful but I find it entertaining.

Floyd plays a role of the cocky villain to sell his fights and he does a damn fine job at it. We all know his fights are not action packed like Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez or Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward but there are millions of boxing fans willing to pay his next pay-per-view in hopes to see him fall.

There is an old saying that controversy creates cash and it’s the very reason that Mayweather is the most watched man in boxing history and for that I respect him. What other known boxer you know that is able to break all previous pay-per-view records and is the highest paying boxer who wins every time with out ever bleeding during a bout?

I agree that at times Mayweather does go overboard but you have to give him props for what he has accomplished.

  1. I didn’t find him very entertaining this time around on Face-Off but he is an interesting character in front of the cameras. I like him as a fighter and I don’t tune in to see him lose because he’s a talented fighter who handles the majority of his opponents with ease. However it’s what he does off the cameras that makes me not care for him as a person, don’t get me wrong he does some good I just wish it was more of the good than the bad off camera. He and Cotto should give us a decent fight but besides Alvarez/Mosley (which I give a good chance of being a snoozer) the other two potential fights are not much to get excited about.
