In recent boxing news, Andre Berto has vacated his IBF welterweight belt after HBO refused to televise his mandatory defense against Randall Bailey. I don’t blame HBO, Berto is a boring fighter plus HBO is only interested in Ortiz-Berto II. Ortiz is a big name right now.

Andre Berto is also interested in a rematch against Victor Ortiz. Berto tweeted yesterday:

“So Ortiz lets make this shit happen I did my part…”

Who doesn’t want sweet revenge? Then again who wants to see that again? Yes, the first encounter was amazing, an early candidate for fight of the year but I don’t know if Ortiz-Berto can do it again. I mean there’s no belt on the line. Ortiz is coming off a knockout loss and lost the belt he had won against Berto when Floyd Mayweather Jr. knocked him out in the fourth round earlier this year.

Rumor is HBO is targeting Jan. 28 for the rematch, which will be the network’s first “World Championship Boxing” card of the 2012. I am just not feeling it.

Do you want to see Ortiz-Berto 2?

  1. I see Ortiz win again;this time propbably the same way.
Berto can cry all he wants about anemia, overtaining;he’s been fed hamburgers his career;(with the exeption of Collazo which Collazo clearly won)
He just could’nt stand that he
came up on a real ighter and got his ass handed to him.

    Go Victor,
    kick his ass again unanimously.

  2. You both make good points. I think that Berto really wants to avenge his loss and Ortiz doesnt want to lose to a guy he just took a title from. That will probably be enough to motivate both fighters, but like Edgar said there’s no title which takes away from the drama. It has its good and bad sides but I still think it will be a good fight.

  3. @Jonny-Boy I agree. now, do I want to be proven wrong hell yea..

right now thats how I see the fight. Lets just hope I am wrong and its going to be an exciting fight like the first one.

  4. well I’d say the eagerness is all about revenge for Berto. Problem is I don’t think Berto can beat Ortiz, he can say he wasn’t himself and Ortiz was doping but he simply isn’t as good as he thinks. Then again who knows which Ortiz shows up the hungry one? The quitter or the inexperienced kid Mayweather sucker punched. I agree with Edgar I don’t think either one has the heart from the first fight.

  5. Though there is no belt on the line I just don’t see the eagerness.

You know when you want something really bad you will do whatever it takes to get it. That’s how Ortiz was he wanted to be a world champ now what noting is at state his not going to put an effort to it.

Ortiz is focus in investing in a taco chain restaurant.
