Julio Cesar Chavez Junior faces off against veteran Peter Manfredo Junior in Houston, Texas. Chavez Jr., mainly known for his lineage and gained much of his popularity due to his name. Manfredo Jr., The Pride of Providence, is a fighter who has fought the top guys within the divisions of 154-168. This is a very intriguing fight for both men. Manfredo has fought Calzaghe, Sergio Mora, Sakio Bika and Jeff Lacy. Although he has not come out with the W in most of those fights, he has the experience of a true veteran and has tactics that Chavez Jr. has not yet seen. On the downside to those fights, Manfredo has taken a few beatings and is at the end of his boxing life. Only 30 years old, Manfredo has been a contender name for years.

Chavez Jr. is a name. He has shown that he can be entertaining but his resume is weak and he has been promoted with significant caution to preserve his namesake. Chavez Jr. is fighting a seasoned fighter who will give him a tough challenge. Manfredo has been in the ring with bigger and far more talented fighters than Chavez Jr. Chavez Jr. has some relevant names on the resume, but each one comes with an explanation of why they were chosen as his opponent.

Everyone has doubts about Chavez Jr.’s future. I do not believe that the doubters will be satisfied on November 19th. With Freddie Roach in his corner, Chavez Jr. will be given the boost he needs to beat Manfredo Jr. Chavez Jr. has shown improvement while working with Roach. I doubt that Roach will be able to guide Jr. to a win against top guys like Angulo, Kirkland, Canelo and in no way shape or form, Sergio Martinez; he will be able to guide Chavez Jr. to victory against Manfredo Jr. Expect an interesting fight with Chavez Jr. winning.

  1. Martinez would tear Chavez apart. I will dare say he is stronger than, and can beat Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez has a suspect chin.

  2. The day Chavez fights Martinez or even Canelo he’ll lose… Just seems that every time he has a shot to fight a contender he either gets fat or gets a paper cut… Lol

  3. As soon as Martinez accepts, or asks for the fight against Chavez, Chavez will end up with another paper cut on his hand and cancel the fight!! Every time this guy is being talked about fighting a quality opponent something always seems to happen to him!

Every time this guy is being talked about fighting a quality opponent something always seems to happen to him… Hopefully some day he gets in there against someone who can actually give him a fight!

  5. “I’m not afraid of anyone – Sergio Martinez, Canelo Alvarez – whoever it is, I will fight them next, Chavez said.
