After a rough beginning for the fading former champ Zab Judah, Amir Khan knocked out Super Judah with an on the belt, questionably low body shot. Regardless, the Judah that Zab talked seemed to have been left in the gym, since only a shell of the former champ was in the ring that night.

Khan, the significantly larger, quicker, and younger fighter was able to continuously catch the normally slick and slippery defensive Judah. Judah was unable to get off and his defense was not enough to keep the rising star from battering the 33 year old Brooklyn native for 5 rounds before a low, but legally called body shot put Judah down for the count.

This was the first fight in myboxingfans.com quarterly team predictions challenge. Unfortunately, I chose Judah to win and have dropped to 0-1. Here’s how the rest of my team members faired.

Aby has also fallen to 0-1.

Edgar had Khan by UD. He has improved to 1-0 but due to the KO5, he has received no points.

Esteban, Felipe, James, Michele and Gabreal all improve to 1-0 with the win by Khan. No one has received points due to no Khan KO5 predictions.

This week’s fight is Cayo-Peterson on ESPN

We have all sent in our predictions for the Victor Cayo-Lamont Peterson battle on ESPN. Both men are at a crossroads and it is a must win for both men to catapult them back into the top of the 140 pound division.

The winner of this fight will be Khan’s IBF mandatory. Unless one of these contenders come out with a spectacular performance, I do not think either is ready for Khan, although they will have a shot.

Peterson is more technical of a boxer who has fought great opposition and gone the distance with Timothy Bradley and Victor Ortiz. Cayo is a slugger with an unconventional style who has knockout ability. His most recent notable fight was an entertaining slugfest in which he was knocked out with a shot to the chest by Marcos Maidana.

I have Peterson by TKO 8. Peterson’s boxing ability will overwhelm Cayo’s low handed stance, questionable habits and gas tank. I see a stoppage in the 8th round.

Also on the card, Edison Miranda vs. Yordanis Despaigne.
