Haye vs Klitschko Was a Big Waste

I had high expectations for what was supposed to be the biggest heavyweight fight in boxing, David Haye vs Wladimir Klitschko. On paper, it was like a heavyweight dream but at the end it was a big dud. It was another Tim Bradley vs Devon Alexander fight. All three judges gave it to Klitschko scoring the 12-round showdown 117-109, 118-108 and 116-110. Haye won only one round.

Haye talked so much crap and vowed to leave Klitschko quivering on the canvas but like that saying goes, “A Dog That Barks, Doesn’t Bite”. Haye looked afraid to take punch and couldn’t back up his words. Haye blamed a broken toe he suffered three weeks before the fight, taking off his shoe after the fight to show everyone his little toe. Instead of giving excuses, Haye should have given the proper credit where credit was due instead of looking like a fool.

“This was a lesson, unfortunately without a KO, however I believe he has got enough of a beating to understand that there is nothing for him at heavyweight,” said Wladimir Klitschko. “(Haye) was scared to fight me. I was expecting more of a challenge in the ring, but he was super defensive. He’s not cut from the same cloth. He should go back to cruiserweight.”

The 35-year-old Ukrainian is now 56-3, with 49 KOs while the Haye is 25-2, 23 KOs. Wladimir Klitschko has stated he doesn’t want a rematch with Haye and is more interested in facing the Manchester-based undefeated 6’9, Tyson Fury or Dereck Chisora.

  1. In all fairness to the heavyweight division, this was the best fight that could have been made. Too bad Haye did all his talking with his mouth.

  2. Why would anyone actually care who Klitschko fights ? !! The heavyweight division is the worst it has ever been in my lifetime at least, and I’m 62 years old ! There are some terrific fighters in the lower weight divisions, lets concentrate on them and forget the big guy’s until they produce someone that can actually fight and excite. And I don’t see any on the near horizon….
