It’s been three-years since Fernando Vargas lost a majority decision to Ricardo Mayorga in November 2007 but now the former world champion has announced he will be returning to the ring on April 16 at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas against super middleweight Henry Buchanan (20-2, 13 KO).

Vargas is currently training under Floyd Mayweather Sr. in the city which never sleeps, Las Vegas, NV. Fernando, 33, revels that during his time off he weighted about 270 but has worked his way down to 187lbs as of today.

Also, earlier this month Vargas was the first fighter to get a start on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars.

Are you excited to see El Feroz back in the ring?

  1. Not excited to see Fernando in the ring at all. I’m a lot more excited to see Erik Morales! Fernando is fighting only because he needs cash! That’s it!

  2. im glad he is back. he was a great fighter but put in the ring at a young age against a rising beast (trinidad). from there on it was over. i wish vargas the best he is a great fighter

  3. i am exited to see him comeback i have always been a huge ferocious fan BUT i agree with everyone here he will not be competitive against top names, it doesnt matter though he puts asses on the seats, goodluck feroz and watchout with your accountants so that you dont get robbed anymore and dont have to make another comeback…

  4. I like Fernando Vargas he was a great boxer and warrior in the ring… And wouldn’t mind seeing him fight again……. BUT I think he’s past his prime, and wouldn’t be able to hang with the big boys………….

  5. I think he will win a few fights but will run into trouble with the elite at Super Middle but would be interesting. Thats crazy 270lbs though, he worked down from that he might be really dedicated to make a comeback it seems.
