According to WBC president Jose Sulaiman in his weekly press conference, Jhonny Gonzalez, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tijuana’s Antonio Margarito are in talks to face Elio Rojas, Sebastian Zbik and Manny Pacquiao respectively in a historic fight card to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mexico’s anniversary in September of this year.
It is also being discussed that on the same night, Ana Maria Torres, the WBC super super flyweight champion, would defend her title against Mariana “Barbie” Juarez.
In said fight card, Chavez Jr. would go against the German Zbik for the interim WBC jr. middleweight belt while Jhonny Gonzalez would challenge the Dominican for the featherweight title by the organization. In the main event, Margarito would go against the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world, Manny Pacquiao.
Sulaiman mentioned that he has established talks with the newly elected Filipino congressman and that a group of Mexican businessman are gathering the funds to hold the bout against the “Tijuana Tornado” in the due case the bout between Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. does not materialize. If it does, Margarito could be matched up against the WBC jr. middleweight and middleweight champion Sergio Martinez.
He did not fail to mention that all the proposed bouts are in only talks as of yet and nothing has been set in stone.
The WBC president also spoke about a recent conversation with Erik “Terrible” Morales who stated that he would be back in September after his proposed July 17th bout versus Vicente Escobedo was scratched due to a hand injury that “Terrible” from the Zona Norte of Tijuana suffered recently. Sulaiman stated that in his next bout Morales would be fighting in Mexico City.
Everyone wants to fight Pacquiao for the money that comes with fightng him. It’s not so much because they think they can beat him. Even Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has said that he wants to fight him. Imagine that ?!?!?!?

If this could get materialized, Margarito will be punished like all the others before him. 😀
Interesting, Pacquiao has been wearing the Mexican National Soccer Team now that is vacationing in Mexico and attended to a ceremony wearing the jersey where promoter Fernando Beltran also attended.
Maybe that would actually be Plan B for Pacquiao if Mayweather runs away like he seems to be doing from the Mega fight .
