According to many sources, Top Rank and Zanfer Promotions are reserving dates for a possible Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito face off. Insiders say the possible date can be September 18th in Las Vegas or at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, TX.
Fernando Beltran, CEO of Tijuana’s Zanfer Promtions and partner with Top Rank, stated that if Margarito is victorious in his return bout against Roberto “La Ameneza” Garcia on May 8th in 
Aguascalientes, MX, and if Pacquiao loses his congressional bid in his native Philippines, then more likely that would be the next fight for both warriors.
According to the polls, it does not seem that Pacquiao will win the election for a Congressional seat.
“Margarito needs to win in his return and Pacquiao would have to lose in the elections on May 10th so that the fight can take place,” Beltran stated.
The “Tijuana Tornado” has not fought since January 29th when he was stopped by Shane Mosley in his first defense of the WBA welterweight title. Weeks later, Margarito was suspended by the California State Athletic Comission haver illegal hand wraps were found before his bout with Mosley.

Amigos…. Although I have much respect for Mosley and the exceptional strategic and training qualities of Nazim I feel the Floyd will come out on top. I feel that Floyd will control the pace enough to win. On the other hand, I feel that one of the keys for a Mosley victory is IF… Shane can disrupt May’s COMFORT ZONE, make Floyd fight MORE than that he’s accustomed to. Floyd doesn’t beat down his opponents, he’s satisfied to do just enough to win without over extending himself. When Mosley has him into the ropes he should not go head-hunting and work that body with viciously strong body shots first before switching to the head. Floyd has a way of setting “deceptive traps” with his ‘shoulder roll’ defense. It appears as though he’s giving opponents a ‘free shot’ to his head but actually he’s ready and waiting to either roll, counter and/or slip away.
It’s no secret that boxers have given Shane problems in the past and it probably won’t be any different this time around either. But… can Nazim put together a plan of DIVERSE strategies? Can he to UN-comfortably FORCE Floyd make adjustments to his ‘multi-plan’ strategy?? hmmmm….. Enough for a 38yr old Shane to pull it off?? About Margo’s career PRIOR to the Mosley fight incident, it was truly IMPRESSIVE!! I was present for both his fights here in Puerto Rico and in his 2nd fight with Daniel Santos I thought he deserved no less than a draw. I won’t try to deny that what happened in January 2009 did in fact tarnish his career, that would be quite foolish to disagree. But… before the incident Margo was a very hightly repected elite. I find it hard not to believe that Margo wasn’t an elite fighter BEFORE the incident, which I truly tend believe that he was indeed, although NOW he will have to prove himself once again in the eyes of many. Some would like him to show that he was a top elite ‘fighting machine’ while some believe that he wasn’t. AND… some rather never see him in a ring again! Ya can’t please everybody and in Margo’s case he probably never will… ever again. It’s called CONSEQUENCES.

What might well happen is that they will convice/politically influence the California commission to give Margo/Arum a break in a “behind the walls” sort of an agreement and give Margo a ton of warnings…. and so on to make it look as “proper” so they, the CSAC, doesn’t lose face. The CSAC doesn’t need to license Margarito for him to fight. If this fight happens it could very well be in Mexico or the Phillipines. It doesn’t have to be in the USA. I seriously doubt Pacquiao would fight in Mexico though. Margarito needs to rematch and beat Paul Williams.
Well.. I guess this will all depend on IF… the CSAC breaks down and re-instates Margo’s license. Will they?? Everything has been quiet on this subject lately. Does Arum know something we don’t.
