IFWT_Khan-BronerMarcos Maidana would be the next opponent of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Amir Khan and Adrien Broner have been added to the Mayweather-Maidana pay-per-view as part of the undercards.

Khan would be taking on Luis Collazo. Khan-Collazo will meet in a scheduled 12-round bout. The fight will serve as the co-feature. Collazo, who held a welterweight world title from 2005 to 2006, put himself back in the title picture with his fourth win in a row on Jan. 30, knocking out former titleholder Victor Ortiz.

“I’m excited, you know, I’m stoked. This is a fight that could take me to another level in the welterweight division, and I’m just very humbled by the opportunity. And May 3 is going to be a great night of boxing,” stated Luis Collazo during a telephone conference call.

Amir Khan lost a controversial decision and his junior welterweight title to Lamont Peterson and then got knocked out by Danny Garcia in a July 2012 title fight.

“I’m looking forward to fighting in Las Vegas once again, and my intention on May 3 is to make a statement that I belong on this big stage,” said Khan, who will be fighting at the 147-pound welterweight limit for the first time. “Luis Collazo might be coming off of a big win, but I am in incredible shape and am ready for this challenge. A win on May 3 is what I need to prove that I truly am one of the best welterweights in the sport.”

Also part of the Mayweather-Maidana undercard

Adrien Broner will have a preliminary bout against Carlos Molina. Broner is dropping down from the 147-pound welterweight division to the 140-pound junior welterweight class to take on Carlos Molina in a scheduled 10-round bout.

Molina (17-1-1, 7 KOs), 28, of Norwalk, Calif., has not fought since Khan stopped him in the 10th round in December 2012.

Adrien Broner was knocked down twice and lost to Macros Maidana in December.

Adrien Broner’s recent loss to Marcos Maidana doesn’t appear to have affected his confidence level. Broner-Molina is a fight designed to get “AB” back on the right track.

  1. Jonny; Great to know that there are fans, like yourself, out there that understand and take this great sport seriously. Fans , the news media, and sportscasters ,need to really speak out about , as you stated, how these farces are seriously effecting boxing. I’ve been involved with, and been a fan of the sport for most of my life, and stuff like we’re speaking about is really turning my stomach these days. And it comes down to being up to the paying fans, to really put a stop to this. Stop paying to watch these fiasco’s , and watch things turn around for the better. Money is all that matters to the guilty parties.

  2. @ Donald right on, this card is pretty much already decided, the only competitive fight is Khan/Collazo. Sorry but asking me to dish out 60 bucks for that and a Mayweather camp showcase is just sad and pointless. Ir’s rubbing off on the sport entirely just look at the Stevenson/Kovalev situation.

  3. I wouldn’t pay a dime to see that card, save the money you’d be giving to Mayweather and watch it on cable, free the next weekend. It’s getting ridiculous ! Mayweather took the Maidana fight to protect his investment in Broner, and get Broner off-the-hook from having to face the guy again that already beat him up ! Why isn’t anyone calling-out Mayweather ,and Broner on this farce ? !! Mayweather will outpoint Maidana, and Broner will win , the Khan / Collazo fight could be competitive . But again fans, stop shelling-out your hard earned cash for these Mayweather fiasco’s, you’re just putting more money in that jerks pockets !
