Despite complying with his one year ban by the California State Athletic Commission for using illegal hand wraps in his bout last year with “Sugar” Shane Mosley, Tijuana’s Antonio Margarito continues with out a license to resume his boxing career.
Margarito blames Oscar De La Hoya.
In an interview granted to ESPN Radio’s “A Los Golpes” and Notifight.com, the “Tijuana Tornado” accused De La Hoya of “sticking his nose” and stated:
“Many people have asked me why I think he is saying that I shouldn’t be given my license, how does it affect him?” Margarito asks. “If I was suspended in California, why is he sending letters to others states asking them not to grant me a license? Besides, I complied with the year that they asked for. Now I don’t know what they want. Now it is their turn to comply. This is my job and I need to climb into the ring and not be inactive.”
Margarito announced that his plan is to fight on May 8th in Aguascalientes, MX, against the same opponent which he was going to face on March 13th in Dallas, TX, Carson Jones.
Margarito also has his sights set on Manny Pacquiao.
“Bob Arum is trying to get me a license in Nevada since everybody is asking me to face Pacquiao. I want to face him before the end of the year,” Margarito added. “It might be in the welterweight division, many fans are asking for it since they call him the ‘Mexecutioner’. What other Mexican fighter can face him at welter?”
Margarito also took advantage of the forum to make his case for a license.
“I abided by the suspension that California set for me of one year, we didn’t fight in Tijuana, we didn’t fight in Mexico, we didn’t fight anywhere,” Margarito stated. “I think that I have done my part with the punishment they handed me. If they don’t want to give me my license by now, they are just not going to give it to me. I don’t know what they are waiting for, I heard rumors that they wanted me to go and ask for forgiveness. They should have done that before, I was slated for March 13th, if that was the case, I would have gone and asked for forgiveness and not lost my chance to fight on that card.”
Finally, Margarito used the airwaves to thank the fans for their unconditional support.
how about blaming urself for doing what you did. i dont think he should be allowed to fight ever again. he is a bum if he would of never gotten caught he would of damaged mosley and whoever got in his way and felt good about it. he should be banned get a diff job

when Tyson cannibalized his opponent ,he granted his license back after a year of
suspension because Is an African American fighter and as usual Caucasian people always
sympathize with black people but when it comes to Latinos or other immigrants the treatment is always harsher and the punitive action is always
arbitrary and unjust.This the what the US is always about and anybody disagree with this is either caucasion or black or someone who is out of touch of reality .If you are an immigrant is the US ,you are a second class citizen .

by the way I am not Mexican ,but the truth is needed to be said .The CA comission is totally out of touch of reality and i think they have nothing to do with sport in general .
I understand that Margarito paid his dues as he
was asked by the comission ,but what I don’t understand is why after a year the comission is asking him to show his remorse .for me this situation is preposterous .If the comission felt that one year is not enough ,they should from the very beginning impose harsher penalty .
This situation shows how unprofessional the comission is .
Another example of their incompetence is lack of
knowledge about steriod .they have no idea what HGH is and they think that urine test is suffice and ignoring the fact that is water substance such HGH is not to be test it by urine
That’s why Manny refused Floyd request because he is on HGH .
The members of this comission have to be changed and keep abreast with the world of steriods.

antonio margarito should only blame the people around him as in cornermen and himself for letting this happen,in the past he may well have gotten away with this but not in this day and age.its a shame really,i seen the mess of miguel cotto after he fought margarito,i ask myself was this a fair win or were the gloves loaded,it seems that since the fight cotto is clearly damaged goods.boxing is a hard enough sport without this kind of thing going on,i only hope margarito has banked himself enough to live comfortable on as i cant see him coming back anytime soon
Margarito has no one to blame but himself and his team…de la hoya is not the one who loaded his gloves…I’m tired of people feeling bad for this guy…him and his team knew what could happend to the opposing fighter when getting hit with the bricks…
