ANTONIO DEMARCO NOT FOCUSED ON VALERO’S RECORD

It can be said that with an impressive 26-0, 26KO ledger with the first eighteen knockouts in the first round, WBC lightweight champion Edwin Valero defeats many of his opponents before they even climb into the ring, reminiscent of one “Iron” Mike Tyson.

One who is not swayed by Valero’s admirable record is his next opponent, the interim WBC lightweight title holder Antonio DeMarco (23-1-1, 17KO) of Tijuana, MX, by way of Los Mochis.

“I focus on my work. I don’t focus on the work of Edwin Valero. I don’t focus in his power or his record. I focus in my work so that we climb into the ring 100% ready and do the right things,” DeMarco stated as he finished off another training session. “I don’t notice the record of my opponents or on anything that I might be impressed by. I take care of working hard, at 100%, even if it means getting home dead tired. That is all I can do, to focus on my job and not what Edwin Valero is doing.”

The Valero-DeMarco WBC lightweight twelve round championship bout is slated for February 6th in Monterrey, MX and will be televised nationally by Showtime.

Valero Still in Venezuela!

Monterrey, MX, waited for the WBC lightweight champion Edwin Valero (26-0, 26KO) of Venezuela but to no avail since the undfeated hard hitting southpaw was not able to board his flight last Saturday due to unspecified issues with the boarding passes issued.

Valero will be traveling to Monterrey to defend his title for the second time in his career against interim title holder Antonio DeMarco (23-1-1, 17KO) of Tijuana, MX, on February 6th at the Monterrey Arena. The bout will be televised as the main event by Showtime.

Traveling with Valero will be his Mexican trainer Mario Morales as well as his fitness coach Jairo Alvarez as well as various members of his family.

In his last bout, Valero stopped another Tijuana fighter, Hector Velazquez in seven rounds in Caracas, Venezuela, although Valero suffered cuts to his nose and left brow.

DeMarco has stated that he has been training since mid-December in hopes of ending the reign of Valero.

The WBC lightweight title is the second that Valero earns with the first being the WBA super featherweight strap.

  1. Valero does remind me of a young Tyson, Knocking out everyone and also fighting no ones hehe, that’s how Cus D’Amato wanted to build him up, he was a knock out artist just like Valero is , yet Tyson had way better head, body and feet movement, Valero seems to fight straight on, chin up in the air, no head movement, landing power shot after power shot.

It will be very interesting to see how he does now that he seem to be steeping with better opponents.

Still I will be cheering for DeMarco! I hope he wins, I like how he fights, has good skills, very exciting to watch, fights from TJ! and I’m sure we will be a good champion soon, he is already interim.
