The final press conference for this Saturday’s special edition of DiBella Entertainment’s “Broadway Boxing” series was held today in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In the main event, former world welterweight champion Kermit “Killer” Cintrón (31-2-1, 27 KOs) will fight for his first time in his native Puerto Rico as a professional when he takes on Juliano Ramos (15-2, 12 KOs) of Brazil in a scheduled for 10 round welterweight main event.
Iván Rivera: We are looking forward to Kermit Cintron making his debut in Puerto Rico and our first promotion with Lou DiBella’s DiBella Entertainment. We have an exciting night of boxing planned for this Saturday October 24th which will feature 11 well matched fights.
Kermit Cintrón: My dream to fight in Puerto Rico as a professional is almost here. I’m very happy that I’m finally going to fight in my native Puerto Rico. I had a very good training camp and am working hard to win another world title. If Ramos comes to fight I will deliver a spectacular performance.
Juliano Ramos: It is a pleasure to fight in Puerto Rico which has produced so many world champions. I’ve prepared well and it will show on Saturday.
Lou Dibella: I love Puerto Rico. I very much enjoy coming to Puerto Rico and now I’m having a boxing event here. I promised Kermit that he would fight in Puerto. Now here we are alongside with Puerto Rico’s top promoter PR Best Boxing making it happen.
WBA junior middleweight champion Daniel Santos made his presence felt at the press conference. “You win your fight and I will win my fight,” he stated. “Then lets you and me fight right here in Puerto Rico.”
Dibella responded, “Speak with your promoter to put up the money and we can make the fight happen for sure.”
Cintron shocked many with his upset of highly touted and then unbeaten contender Alfredo Angulo in his last bout this past May, which was a WBC light middleweight title eliminator. Cintron will now drop back down to welterweight against Ramos. Cintron was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico where he lived until he was a teenager at which point he moved to Pennsylvania. Cintron has never fought in Puerto Rico as a professional.
The Puerto Rico vs Mexico rivalry will again be stirred up as Jonathan Oquendo (16-2, 10 KOs) of Puerto Rico battles Mexican veteran Juan José Beltrán in a featherweight bout scheduled for 8 rounds. José “Chelo” González (7-0, 4 KOs) of PR Best Boxing will take on Javier García (6-2-1, 2 KOs) in an 8 round junior welterweight contest. Former Puerto Rico Olympian heavyweight Víctor Bisbal (14-1, 11 KOs) will take on 21 bout veteran Mike Miller. There will be a total of 11 bouts in all.
