WBC President Jose Sulaiman announced today that due to the problems of WBC lightweight world champion Edwin Valero getting a United States visa, the WBC Board of Governors has approved an interim title fight between #1 Antonio Demarco and #2 Jose Alfaro. The WBC is basing its decision rule 1.27 which states that the organization has the authority to approve an interim championship in the event of medical or legal cases that prevent a champion defending his title for over six months, which is the case of Valero.
