WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (24-0, 19 KOs) barely got by former WBA champ Luis Collazo (29-4, 14 KOs) on Saturday night at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Collazo got off to an excellent start against Berto as both fighters met at close quarters. After Berto was deducted a point for holding in round four, Berto started boxing from the outside in round five and had a few good rounds. Collazo got a second wind in rounds nine and ten, but Berto closed the fight strong to pull it out. Scores were 116-111, 114-113, and 114-113.
Collazo won that fight, he hurt Berto a few times and he had him fighting in pure auto pilot, even his dad was screaming at Berto: “You have to Knock him down we are loosing”
It was a close fight, but I think Berto looked bad, was obviously fighting the wrong fight like Lenox was saying, he should have tried to box him from the outside and not flat on this feat with no movement, it really remind me of the way Meldrick Taylor fought Chavez and he kinda moves like him to.
I though it was close but it was a win for Collazo, + Berto can’t be fighting like this if he expect to go out there with the best in the division, he needed that loss to reinvent him self, and once again like Lenox said during the fight, “Sometimes the best thing that can happen to a undefeated fighter is losing”.
It was a great fight for us boxing fans but an horrible fight if you are Andre Berto.
Collazo won that fight and is a shame that this happend to him again. He won against Hatton and yesterday he won clearly.
Berto won the fight. He was stronger and quicker and Collazo just can not truly hurt you with his power. He will always lose close fights unless he can put a guy on the mat or KO someone.
Collazo won that fight, come on . Don’t get me wrong Berto fought a good fight, but he was getting beat. That judge scored high in favor of Berto he was crazy was he watching the fight? I could not believe it, 116-111 yea right. the announcer had an excuse for every bad thing that happened to Berto. Berto needs to give him a rematch!!
