MyBoxingFans recently visited super welterweight rising sensation Alfredo “Perro” Angulo at the Maywood Gym as he prepares for the toughest challenge of his career when he faces former undisputed welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga of Nicaragua on Valentine’s Day at a venue to be determined.
Angulo who hails from Mexicali, MX, but resides in Los Angeles County, holds a perfect 14-0 record with 11 wins within the distance while Mayorga will be stepping into the ring with a 28-7-1, 22KO ledger.
Although the diference in experience is vast, Angulo, 26, is coming off a spectacular 2008 as he fought three times, winning all by impressive knockout while in Mayorga’s last bout versus Shane Mosley, the outspoken Nicaraguan was stopped in the last seconds of the twelfth round after giving Mosley a much tougher fight that many ringside pundits expected.
Whichever venue this explosive fight ends up at, I hope they have a indoor fire permit because the fireworks will be going off from the opening bell.
