Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Matt Vanda hosted a final press conference today at the famous Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles, CA, hours before flying to Las Vegas for their highly anticipated PPV rematch this Saturday from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
After their controversial fight in Hermosillo, Mexico, there were questions about who really won the fight.
“Last time Julio was sick but this time he is healthy and ready,” stated Chavez’s trainer. “He is well prepared and he will show those results in the ring.”
“There has been a lot of controversy about who won, this will be the opportunity for both of us to make a statement. I don’t like to give excuses but it wasn’t my night,” said Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. “I just hope that Vanda is able to get it on with me from the sound of the bell. There’s not much to say, but I am going to win by knock out or by decision, either way I am going to win.”
” I am not mad at Chavez, but I am not going to let a little kid push me around,” said Vanda. “We’re not going to leave it to the judges, we’re going to start in the 11th round were we left off. I’m going to kick his ass, I am going to break his nose in the fifth round and knock him out.”
This will be Matt Vanda’s (39-7, 22KO) first time fighting in Las Vegas as part the main event.
“It feels good to fight in Las Vegas, I think its everyone’s dream to fight in Vegas. We’re schedule to leave to Vegas tonight,” said Vanda. When asked about Chavez using any new techniques to win this rematch, Vanda responded with confidence, “He is probably going to use his right more often, but we don’t care about what that kid is planning. We’re going to knock him out and win, plain and simple.”
“After I win, I will take the rest of the year off and spend time with my 4 year old daughter and my newborn which will be born any day now.”
The Pay-per-View event will feature a great under cards with IBF Flyweight Champion Nonito Donaire (19-1, 12 KO) as he puts his title on the line against Moruti Mthalane (22-1, 15 KO) from South Africa.
Fan favorite for his aggressive style and entertaining personality Jorge “El Travieso” Arce (50-4-1, 38KO) is also part of this amazing undercard. Arce will take on Isidro Garcia from Guerrero, Mexico (25-5-2 8KO). “I am well prepared and I hope Arce is well prepared too, because I am going to give it all I got and this belt will be going back to my hometown where it belongs,” said Garcia. “I used to train with Arce so I know his weaknesses which I will use for my advantage.”
“I know we going thru some difficult times with this whole economy issue, but I ask you to put all this aside and watch this fight, it will be entertaining and well worth your time,” stated Jorge Arce. “I am planning to beat this guy in one round to prove a statement that I am serious on taking on Israel Vazquez.”
Tickets are still available and are priced at $300, $200, $100 and $50. The five-bout-pay-per-view broadcast, will begin at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT, has a suggested retail price of $39.95

La verdad yo pienso que para como esta peleando Julio, con los costales que le ponen y todavía ver como batalla, el perro lo destrozaría.
La diferencia es muy grande, El perro es un verdadero peleador, que a empezado desde abajo y sigue subiendo. Esta ultima pelea que hizo fue la primera que vi de el, aunque ya lo habia escuchado antes, y demostró que tiene muy buen futuro, se vio muy bien preparado, aguanto tirando tanto golpe hasta el final y consiguió el TKO.
Me gustaría en verdad ver a Chavez superarse, pero hasta ahora no se le ve nada especial, a batallado con muchos Don nadie, es cierto que no tuvo una carera amateur, pero a estas alturas lo siguen poniendo con boxeadores de segunda, o de tercera, y ya vimos como batallo en esta ultima, que muy bien la pudo haber perdido, y ahora no pudo hacer peso, el chico no le esta echando ganas, piensa que todo tiene que venir fácil porque es hijo del grande Julio Chavez, pero asi no funciona esto, el box es un deporte muy duro donde el participante tiene que comer tomar vivir y sudar box, prepararse muy bien para poder estar listo para cualquier cosa que pase en el ring, solo pocos logran ser grandes, muchos se quedan a la mitad y desperdician el talento que tenían, los que llegan a triunfar es porque les costo bastante, eso es lo que tiene que entender Julio Jr.
Pero lo verdad no creo que a Julio lo arriesguen con un guerrero como El Perro todavía, veremos a ver como le va en esta pelea y también si puede corregir el camino y mostrar que no solo lleva el nombre de su padre, sino que tiene su propio talento debajo de esos guantes.
Me gustaría saber que piensa Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. sobre pelear con Alfredo El Perro Angulo; ya que el día 4 de Octubre; Angulo se enfrento con Andrey Tsurkan y gano por Knockout tecnico despues de esto se hizo una conferencia de prensa con el promotor de Angulo, Gary Shaw donde dijo que le gustaria una pelea con El Perro vs. Chavez Jr. y que el dinero no era ningun problema para que se pudiera realizar esta pelea para el proximo año… Así que como ya lo mencione anteriormente me gustaría saber que piensa él al respecto, si aseptaría esta pelea con El Perro Angulo.
Ojala y pudieran preguntarle si es posible este enfrentamiento ya que daría mucho de que hablar esta pelea.
