Undefeated world middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik arrived in New York City on Monday night with trainer Jack Lowe for a press conference Tuesday at B.B. Kings Blues Club for his upcoming twelve-round light heavyweight showdown against four-time world champion Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins. Promoted by Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions, in association with Caesars Atlantic City, Pavlik-Hopkins will take place Saturday at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.

This event will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View for $49.95 one might ask is this fight worth paying almost 50 bucks, the last couple fights of the “Executioner” have been boring and his age is starting to show. Most insiders believe that this pay-per-view will have a hard time doing 350,000-plus buys, but tickets sales are brisk according to Bob Arum.

“I’m really shocked,” admitted the veteran promoter this past week in East LA on the last portion of the De La Hoya-Pacquiao media tour. “Right now, we have almost $2.3 million in the box-office. There are around 2,000 tickets left and 98-percent of the tickets are $50 and $100. So I think we’ll sell out.”

My personal opinion I think this fight will have too much defense and less fireworks. Are you looking forward to this fight?

  1. ooooooooooooooooooops, I can eat my own words.
Very very impress by what Hopkins showed tonight, he was the faster, busier, sharper and at the same time older fighter toning, although he did not look old what so ever.
Amazing, I take my hat out for him. Just incredible!

  2. The only thing I’m looking forward is to see Hopkins reaction after he hears he has lost an unanimous decision.

This should be a slow one, but everything can happen in this sport, so let’s hope we get lucky…. But I doubt it…
