WBC Welterweight World Champion Andre Berto, preparing for his January 30 unification showdown with WBA champ Shane Mosley, is devastated by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit the island nation of Haiti on Tuesday. Officials feared hundreds of thousands may have perished but there was no firm count. He had the following comments about the tragedy and
rescue efforts he will be developing to assist the people in the island nation:
“I’m devastated by everything currently happening in Haiti. As everybody knows, I have a lot of family members in Haiti and proudly represented Haiti in the 2004 Olympic Games. Like many other Haitian-Americans, my family and I are working to reach my loved ones. From what we have learned to this point, some of my family members are still missing and we have already been informed that members of my family have passed away in the earthquake. We are currently working on starting our own Haitian relief efforts, and I will be releasing additional information on how everyone can help very soon. I am asking everyone for their continued thoughts and prayers for the people in Haiti during this devastating time.”
Well, Berto Vs Mosley is off, my heart goes out for Berto and his family and everyone in Haiti, I can’t imagine what would be to loose my love ones to a tragedy like this.
But now something else comes to my mind, Floyd Mayweather, this is truly a chance to rice up to the occasion, he is looking for a fighter right? now Mosley is free, Floyd is free and everyone else that maters has a fight schedule or something coming up.
So I say Floyd Mayweather, please don’t duck this one and make this one happen. Who else can he fight? This is the fight to make right now, and I’m sure this would be the fight that will compete and even win if they go toe to toe on the same date as the (Pacquiao Vs. Clottey)
We know Mosley wants the fight, does Mayweather wants it? or will he duck this one also? He will probably bring up the steroids thing about Mosley, but I think Mosley if asked would do the testing, he needs this fight more than anyone, time is running out on him and we all know this is the fight he’s been wanting. Make it happen Mayweather, don’t screw this up!
