These two men will meet in the ring at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in less than 41 days.
Mayweather is 13 years, 4 months and 24 days older than Canelo.
Canelo made his pro debut in October, 2005. This was also the same year that Mayweather last fought three times in one year. Since 2005 Mayweather has fought the likes of Arturo Gatti, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Marquez. Canelo has faced Austin Trout and Shane Mosley.
When these two men enter the ring, Mayweather will have over 50 more rounds fought under his belt. However, Canelo has fought only 2 less fights in his pro career since 2005 and Mayweather has fought only 12 times since 2005.
850,00 to over 1 million PPV buys is the rumored number Mayweather did against Guerrero depending on whom you believe. If Mayweather did less than 1 million PPV buys, it would be the first time he did less than a million buys since Ricky Hatton.
Canelo has never headlined his own PPV.
Boxrec has Alvarez KO % at 69% to Mayweather’s 59% KO ratio. However, Mayweather’s last real KO was that of Ricky Hatton back in 2007 and Canelo was against Joseito Lopez, a fighter that never campaigned at 154lb before the Alvarez fight.
This fight is at a catch weight of 152lbs. History is on Mayweather’s side.
Mayweather is a 3 to 1 favorite to win the September 14th fight.
