People have and always will pledge their allegiance to one brand over another. Perhaps it’s consciously, sometimes it is subconsciously. No matter the fact people like what they like, whether it is soda, food, stores or sneakers, but their boxing network?

Does Floyd Mayweather’s move actually make a difference to the fans? A PPV buy is a PPV buy. Yeah, sure the pre fight and post fight production will look a little different, the color commentary will not be that of Jim Lampley but in the end does of it mean any difference to the end result; the two fighters in the ring?

No, people will still tune in to Showtime or EPIX or wherever Mayweather would have landed just to see Mayweather hopefully lose. The fans will still get riled up by the outlandish comments Mayweather may make, call him arrogant and just plain tune in because no matter where “Money” Mayweather is, he moves the needle.

So what is the big fuss with Mayweather actually signing a contract?

Mayweather is 36. He has just signed a contract that could lead up to 6 fights in a matter of 30 months, for the non math fans that is 2 and a half years.

Mayweather has only fought 5 times since 2009 and before that he had a 2 year layoff. While the deal is going to be financially beneficial for Mayweather, does anyone actually expect Mayweather to fulfill that many fights in that short of a time period?

There are many questions that surround if Mayweather can fulfill the fight agreement but two seem to be the most popular.

1. Will Mayweather actually fight guys the fight fans actually want. I.E. Canelo, Martinez and even Pacquiao to name a few.

2. Will the undercards be worth paying 60 a pop for 6 Mayweather PPVs in the next 30 months?

While it may be BIG news that Floyd “Money” Mayweather is fighting on Showtime for the foreseeable future, boxing fans really do not care if Mayweather is fighting on Showtime or HBO. He has already proved to be a ticket and PPV mover and now instead of HBO reaping those benefits, Showtime will. Fans just want Mayweather to fight the best and that is something that seeing is believing.
