Let’s not kid ourselves. With Floyd Mayweather’s propensity to let fans down in how he dictates the sport of boxing, by either not taking the fight that fans want (reference Manny Pacquiao) or taking fights with top fighters who are on the tail end of their careers; it does not seem likely he will cooperate now that he is on the tail end of his own career. That said, Mayweather is still boxing’s most recognized mainstream fighter and biggest prize. Subsequently, wouldn’t it be outstanding if he surprised and rewarded us all with a guaranteed commitment and sign with Robert Guerrero for May, and assuming victory, also agree to a September Super Fight with Mexican Superstar Canelo Alvarez.
It appears the deal is all but signed for a May 4th bout with between Floyd Mayweather and WBC Interim Welterweight champion Robert Guerrero. If the case, can Golden Boy Promotions also wave the magic wand and get Canelo Alvarez to sign on the dotted line and square up against the up and coming WBA Light Middleweight champion Austin Trout on the May 4th undercard? Let’s hope so, but don’t hold your breath. Mayweather may have something completely different in store for us given he is taking so long to announce his next opponent.
The odds are that Mayweather will again let fans down, and have two meaningless fights in 2013. Consequently, the fighter many fans love and equally love to hate will continue holding on to the possibility of a Super Fight with someone proven and in the peak of their career before Mayweather retires. The fans’ previous wish for a Pacquiao fight was already a gutter ball. Now we, as well as Canelo Alvarez, are hoping for a strike in 2013. In the meantime, I already have my flight booked for Las Vegas, Nevada for the May 4th weekend because I am still a fan holding on for something great. Stay tuned.
I think canelo and trout Will happen, not may 5 tho. Think about why would de la Hoya Jeopardize a big pay day with mayweather. Plus he would have to have them fight in an undercard which makes no sense, he could let that fight build as Sergio and Chavez did and sell it ppv. I’m expecting to see canelo fight cotto, angulo, or Kirkland. Sadly that’s boxing, but when they match up I see canelo winning the fight his power is just amazing, he can break thru defenses easy
Boxing is at the point of watered down so much that u love the game, just dont care for the players.

Mayweather is like a good ghost story… u cant believe it but somehow you are always fascinated.
I gave up on Floyd a long time ago, and unfortunately, Manny just doesnt pack the punch he once did. I still am “game” to watch them box, but it will be like watching a overdue bar fight, fun to watch, but whoit carest…
I think Canelo vs trout will happen and Canelo will win . What do you guys think?
