An Easy Fight for Adrien Broner

Adrien-BronerIt is has been slow in boxing the pass couple of weeks and there probably won’t be much movement in the rankings until the spring, given that the majority of the world’s elite fighters are scheduled to compete later in the year. Next week, February 16, Adrien Broner is schedule to appear on HBO, but the undercard sucks.

Due to a broken right thumb suffered by Johnathon Banks during training, his fight against Seth Mitchell, scheduled as the co-main event has been postponed pissing all boxing fans and Paddy Power boxing markets. A new date for the bout is currently being scheduled and will be announced shortly. The February 16 event at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City will still take place as scheduled.

Gavin Rees (37-1) who will be taking on Broner has lost only once, a 2008 TKO at the hands of Andriy Kotelnik, who is also probably the best fighter he has faced. The vast majority of Rees’ fights have taken place in his UK homeland.

Whatever you’re looking for latest boxing coupon online or a fight personally I don’t think this fight will be entertaining as Broner vs Yuriorkis Gamboa. But with the recent allegations that Gamboa used PEDs I doubt this fight will ever happen. At 140 pounds, though, Broner could find a wealth of world-class opponents that might actually present a challenge: Amir Khan, Danny Garcia, Brandon Rios, and more.

At this point I will take anything just to watch some boxing.

  1. I think Broner vs Burns is the best fight to come. Much has been made, mainly in the states, about Burns ducking Broner but there is much more to it than just that.

Burns had his last fight postponed twice and needs a warm up match before taking on Broner. Everyone knows Adrian Broner is a fine fighter and it would be madness to take him on (especially in his backyard or in Vegas) without a tune up.

I think Broner will soudly defeat Gavin Rees and Burns overcome Vasquez next month. This sets up a big megafight in either the UK or US.
