“He’s alright”, “I like him but just can’t stand the way he acts sometimes”, “I hope he get’s his a** knocked out.” These are all comments I received from some boxing friends when asked how they felt about Amir Khan.
Amir Khan who entered the ring for the first time since his loss this past July to Philadelphia native Danny Garcia, defeated undefeated Carlos Molina to capture the WBC silver light welterweight belt. It was Khan’s first win in over a year as he lost a split decision to Lamont Peterson in December of 2011 and then his stunning stoppage at the hands of Garcia in July.
While Khan looked fairly sharp in his questionable loss to Peterson and failed to recover from getting hurt by Garcia, Khan came back in the end of 2012 with a new trainer and a new outlook going into 2013.
This past weekend, he looked like he had improved in some areas but truth be told, perhaps this is what Amir Khan is. A really good fighter, with great speed (for now) and a fighter that can get knocked out at any given time. He may be a fighter that will never fully capture the American audience as other European fighters have and for others fight fans just the way he talks and carries himself may be enough not to like him. But there are not many boxers that are willing to give up PPV buys to makes fights against fighters that have little to no fan base let alone against fighters that have a strong fan base.
In the past 3 years, Khan has faced Paulie Malignaggi, Marcos Maidana, Paul McCloskey, Zab Judah, Lamont Peterson, Danny Garcia and Carlos Molina. The fighters had a combined record of 188 wins and 11 losses – Add the fact Khan was pressing for a fight that seemed to be wrapped up against Timothy Bradley in 2011 and Khan was not only one of the more active fighters but he was also a fighter that sought out the best fighters he could. Khan could have stayed back in the U.K. and chose the Felix Sturm route, fight european based boxers and make just as much money without having to worry about his record or gaining new fans.
However, while many fans seem to dismiss and still question whether or not Khan is ready to get back in the ring with Garcia or anyone else who can hurt him, Khan has proven that even though his chin may not be the best in the fight game, his heart and willingness to face the best is almost unmatched.
Amir Khan may be called many things but scared is not one of them and for boxing fans that’s a good thing.
Khan might be a tad Vunreable at times but, he is in my books p4p the most exiting fighter to watch, he loves a tear up a real crowd pleaser. Hope him the best,

Can’t wait
Khan actually is very godd talented fighter, no doubt. Fast hands, overall speed and agility, good accuracy, able to deliver quick combos….. , and an inpressive list of victims. His chin?? hmmm.. Well, it’s his CHIN that makes his fight even MORE interesting. You have to try not to even blink due to the fear of missing something. His fights aren’t over ’til they’re over, as we’ve all seen. A great fighter with a weak chin sweetens up the “expectancy factor” because we don’t actually know what to expect from one moment to the next!
What about Kahn v Katsidis? it would be a thriller for fight fans, and is really a long overdue match.
