Jquante_Crews28-year-old Jquante Crews was found guilty for the murder of former champion, Vernon Forrest. The Georgia judge sentenced him to life in prison without parole.

On July 25, 2009 Forrest was at a gas station in southwest Atlanta filling the air in the tires of his car, when he was robbed by Demario Ware, who has already been convicted in the case and sentenced to life in prison. Ware fled with Forrest’s championship ring and Rolex watch.

After getting robbed, Forrest gave chase, and being armed himself, exchanged gunfire with the robber, getting shot 7, including 5 times in the back by Charmon Sinkfield, the alleged gunman. Sinkfield is severing a life sentence and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, whose case has not yet gone to trial. Jquante Crews drove the getaway car a red Monte Carlo.

Vernon Forrest was 38-years-old and left behind a 12-year-old son, Vernon Jr.
