As we recently announced, Saul Alvarez, better known as “Canelo”, will be taking on Shane Mosley on May 5th in the co-feature fight on the PPV card headlined by Floyd Mayweather as he takes on Miguel Cotto.
I have mixed emotions about this fight. I am excited but at the same time I am not. Shane Mosley is one of the most recognizable names in boxing who has worked his way to a Hall of Famer status, his resume consist of well known fighters but at age 40, he is past his prime.
His last three fights since his major upset of Antonio Margarito in 2009 haven’t been entertaining. In a recent interview we did a few weeks ago, many say Mosley was slurring his words and showing signs of punch drunk syndrome. Characteristic of the behavior of a person who has suffered repeated blows to the head.
“Canelo”, who is just 21-years-old, is one of the biggest stars in boxing today and adding Mosley to his ledger will be more rewarding. At the same time, I am curious how this fight will turn out. Mosley has power and is not afraid to brawl and the same goes for “Canelo”. You have to remember this is boxing and anything can happen. “Canelo” likes to open up and if Mosley can time his right hook, its possible he could send “Canelo” to the canvas.
This is where age and experience beats youth or does it?. Just like what our loyal reader Jesus A. said, “Cinnamon vs Sugar. Doesn’t get any sweeter than this.”
Hey ..just to throw it out there Mosley has NEVER been knocked out …knocked down yes ..knocked out sorry NO..due a little research …
Mosley has been knocked out before. Its going to be interesting fight no doubt about that.
Do this guys even watch boxing …to say sugar Shane is done and has nothing left in his tank is dumb…let me see you get in the ring with him and let’s see if he can knock your ass out…Shane has fought ever single big name out there …never been knock out …he still can through and I can say you will see that againist Canelo ..why wouldn’t he …Shane does not have the respect for Canelo as he did for mayweather …Canelo has a chance and I want him to win ..but just to walk over Mosley I don’t think that is going to happen …Canelo is a good up coming fighter and may be great some day but if he is not working on his defense and fights with his down like has done in all his fights ..Mosley will catch him .before your write anything on here watch some boxing first instead of watching espn highlights and you might make some sense…..
If they fight mosley win, but lady the la hoya will let mosley beat his boyfriend canelo ???? I don’t think so !!!!
Mosely should get ready to retire after this fight, but I think it should be a good one. I think its risky for Canelo, he doesnt want to lose to Shane this early in his career but It will be a great test for him.
