WBA interim champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux (9-0, 7 KOs) stopped Rico Ramos at 1:29 of the sixth round to take the WBA super bantamweight title Friday night at The Palms in Las Vegas.

The undefeated Cuban defector floored the overmatched Ramos with a straight right in the first round, had control throughout and ended it with a left hook to the body. After the fight, Rigondeaux called out Nonito Donaire.

  1. Rigondeaux is probably the biggest threat to Donaire at this weight. He’s got nasty body punches and has the skill to not be overwhelmed by Donaire’s speed.
