Erik Morales emergency surgery was a big success after several small stones were removed from his gall bladder. Due to this unforeseen emergency, Morales is being forced to withdraw from his scheduled fight with Danny Garcia on January 28, 2011.
Word is that Garcia will still fight but no opponent has been announced. Humberto Soto was offered to take Morales place but Soto declined taking on the unbeaten fighter. On the same card, super welterweight star James Kirkland will face Carlos Molina in the main event bout.
Under doctors orders, “El Terrible” has to break camp for 2 weeks. It is also rumored that Morales will defend his WBC 140lb title some time in February.
